What a shame. Ive seen him live twice.
I was at the Cuadras fight which I thought was fantasic but a what a war

It seems that the death of his trainer, coupled with the move up in weight, and the wars, led to his downfall.

I hope he can get a few more paydays before he retires.

I'd also add going over 30 for a flyweight is very tough. Speed is key down there and once that goes it's tough.

Almost 37 year old rigo will be in the same boat soon enough

He had "no fire" in his eyes last night after the first round. Those "give it all, take a bunch of punishment too" type fighters one nite just are finished. Plus he was fighting a bigger fighter, southpaw fighter, who considered himself the champion now.

It's not sudden. It's happened over 3 fights. Never thought he was the best anyway.. Oscar's BS Ring mag & Latino bias had him there, I didn't. Nor did many others...

What are you talking about GK?

Roman Gonzales was the epitome of an HBO hype job
They suddenly discovered him when he was 44 -0 around the time that there was a big whomp about Mayweather going 49-0. Believe if he had of made it they would say he was better.
This hype for Gonzales and the most ignored flyweight division was all an HBO construct. Remember CST80 had a thread called "Get to Know a Flyweight" where he was trying to give those divisions exspoure on the board because no one looked past 135. Now here we are talking about Romans so called sudden downfall. His downfall is he let HBO executives tell him how to box.
HBO wanted him to move up in weight all fast, they were trying to create a new Manny Pacquiao.
Shame on HBO for destroying 3 careers so far this year.

Don't you mean gift decisions from the best?
Gift decisions in the Cuadras fight.
Gift decisions in the Estrada fight.
Gift decisions in the Rosas fight.

HBO said Chocolitio had fought a bunch of fights in his career in Japan.
Not sure if HBO meant that was good, or bad.

    The Cuadras fight was close
If you call that a gift for Choco then you better call Ward Kov 1 a gift for Ward

Eh, they kind of were, at least the last two, I scored the Cuadras match 7-5 for CC, and the Estrada match a draw, I haven't seen the first Rosas fight, so I can't comment.

Nah. Close but clear. Even if you thought they won, the most you could score it against Gonzalez is a round. Not quite "gift" territory.

No because everyone hates Ward at HBO , on boxing sites, and **** like that . They would never give Ward a gift decision.
Gonzales was their new darling like Nonito use to be. He got gifts until they couldn't do it anymore.

I don't agree he was a hypejob, Roman is a lower division ATG, but the shameless way HBO shoved him down everyone's throat after they ignored the divisions for years came across as disingenuous as all hell and was elitist snobbery at its finest from that smug **** Max.

This is true, dude Max is the WORST. How many times did he repeat the, "ROMAN WON THE FIRST FIGHT, ROMAN WON THE FIRST FIGHT" Line yesterday.

I'm glad he got shut up as well. I like Roman, but he is no p4p #1 fighter. That I knew from a very long time ago.
