Kovalev was a hype job and Chocolatito was simply too small. GGG is no hype job nor is he too small. Case closed.
I don't think so, Kovalev and Golovkin are different boxers and people in general. I've read Kovalev's book "On the Edge". Where he wrote about his life, especially crime life in Russia, he was a "not big" street criminal. Even when he came to US, he didn't leave his criminal habits, in Stub Hub Arena he took Iphone which that someone had forgotten near the metal detector. And then he was arrested after he turned on the Iphone at home.
Dude won both fights. The judges took the first fight from him and the ref took the second. After seven rounds, Kov led 5-2. Anything after rd 7 was a $hitshow as far as the rules go.
Kovalev was soundly beaten twice, by the best fighter in the world, and a guy who he was never as good as. Choco was upset. Most elite fighters end up slipping, and losing towards the end of their careers. Two completely separate situations.
Well it happened, as expected. Thankfully they didn't completely rob GGG by giving the decision to Canelo. Now I can only imagine what the rematch will be like since Golovkin won't have that same mental stress that Kovalev and Chocolatito succumbed to when they "lost" the first fight. Hopefully Golovkin doesn't fall into the same trap if the rematch happens.
