I was watching Leonard stop Mayweather Sr and I wonder if he could beat the younger Mayweather. But keep in mind Floyd, Jr was better than his old man. How would a fight between them proceed?

I favor SRL. Bigger. Great finisher. Very fast as well. Harder puncher. WW was his natural/original weight class. Did fight the better competition.

Also both SRL and FMJ had the tendency to dictate the terms of the fight. But since they both did this this fight can only be fought at equal terms.

Agree and can't add much too this. Wilfredo B. was also a great defensive fighter and made SRL miss often but Ray's greater offense kept building up the points and thats how I would see this fight going also. Whereas Shane Mosely hurt Floyd with several right hands he couldn't follow up, if Ray landed the same he would have a better chance at a stoppage as his finishing was top notch.

Leonard by KO in 7. Could go like Andy Price. Leonard s speed and combos overwhelm Floyd's potshots and defense. Sugar Ray will leave the viewer wondering how he could ever even think Mayweather stood a chance.

I don't recall Price having a prime defense, the first right hand Leonard threw landed right on the button wheres Benitez made Ray miss over and over with it for rounds.

Mayweather is a great fighter, but he hardly stands a chance against a naturally bigger fighter that has every advantage except for pure defence. Plus he doesn't have the firepower to make Leonard respect him. Mayweather has never FOUGHT a better fighter than Leonard, forget about any welterweights.

That's it. I feel it would pan out this way too.

I agree with almost all of the previous. Leonard has too great a heart, chin, and pedigree.

Would this be a neutral site 15 round old school fight, or a Floyd Vegas special with everybody and everything in his pocket? Wouldn't matter anyway, Prime Ray smokes him in any format:dancer2:

The only question here is whether Floyd goes the distance not if he wins.

Montreal Leonard made enough mistakes for Mayweather to capitalize on and subsequently win.

Leonard from later in his reign would be favored but it would be tougher than beating Benitez.

Can't see it, Floyd isn't stronger than Ray, he isn't bigger than Ray,he isn't quicker than Ray, and certainly doesn't hit harder than Ray. The one thing he has is a good defense that might keep him from being knocked out, maybe but I DOUBT IT.

Leonard UD. Mayweather will go into a shell quickly after tasting Leonard's power and speed

Floyd is physically strong according to his opponents and has deterrent like power that stalls them. He has superior counter punching and foot positioning compared to Leonard. Leonard did a lot of marching in straight lines and looping right hands against Duran. If a smarter version of Leonard showed up against Floyd, he could take a competitive dec over him.
