Will BJS ever..

Which makes it even more amazing they were willing to sign up to the WBSS.

 

Which is a shame because I think he could eventually win a 'proper' world title at that weight.

 

A half-fit Saunders proved too much for Eubank.

 

I agree. BJS is levels above Eubank, but if Eubank stays in the middleweight division, I'm sure his work rate, punch output and chin will get him a title.

 

First time in the ingle camp he actuslly looks like a boxer

Be interesting to see how he handles Munroe. If he's all over him i reckon it 'll give him the confidence to step up

 

True, but he still only gave a few rounds away after that. Eubank just couldn't take him.

 

Remember 20 that Eubank is vastly better nowadays. BJS has some sublime skills - especially when he is fit. But overall - taking the complete package into account - I rate CEJ as 'better'. Just my opinion....

I couldnt see BJS repeating the win over Eubank.

 

Eubank has looked impressive from their fight, I agree with that...but has he fought any world class operators since?

Chudinov, Jeter (who was awful), O'Sullivan, Blackwell, Doran (flimsy), Quinlan (who?) and Abraham (older than Highlander).

BJS is very guilty of not being active enough and has held that belt hostage, but I would say that Eubank has sharpened his tools on some very beatable (cherry picked) opposition none of whom even slightly pushed him out of his comfort zone bud.

 

Abe is only 2 years older than GGG and has had far less fights as a am/pro
Abe is younger than Wlad by nearly 4 years and was on a winning streak (only one loss to Gilberto who is a monster in the last 4 years)

Chudinov was seen as a step up at the time and the card was even called risky business, Jr was expected to lose by the majority here, actually most here thought Spike would beat him.

Jr only started getting respect around the Blackwell fight, for years Blackwell was seen as a bloke who would beat Jr or give him a tough fight but suddenly he became a cherry pick! Blackwell was in his prime and coming off career best wins.

Quinlan ktfo Danny Geale, Geale is no joke and he actually fought a decent fight against Jr too. Quinlan would easily be above British level, i'd back him to beat Paul Smith and Martin Murray no problem.

 

In terms of longevity, every fighter is different mate. It's not just a physical thing but a mental one too. Fighters can age over night, we've seen it a million times over. So we can't compare GGG to Abraham just because of age. Bernard Hopkins was a top class operator well into his late 40's, Eubank Senior was done and dusted in his early 30's. Abraham's unfortunately was a punchbag for 12 rounds and offered nothing. He was completely shot.

Quinlan is a nobody. 13 fights in 9 years and less than 20 amateur bouts and you think he'd beat Murray?

Blackwell, O'Sullivan & Chudinov were all honest fighters but were they really any threat? O'Sullivan couldn't lay a glove on BJS but he caught Junior sweet quite a few times.

These were no threat to Eubank. At no point was he pushed out of his comfort zone, at no point did he have to dig deep and find a different way to win. They weren't big movers either, Chudinov, O'Sullivan & Blackwell all stood and tried to trade with him. Abraham's threw very little back.

He could be such a great fighter if his dad would just let him and stop feeding him fodder. I rate him highly, I'm a huge critic of him but honestly, I'll be the first to praise him if he steps up and does the job.

 

Well Quinlan did beat Geale, who would also beat Murray?

I think we have had this argument enough, I think you will say beating Yildirim doesn't prove anything, but I reckon its a much tougher fight than Groves. Groves fight will silence all of the doubters if Jr can get past Yildirim which is no gimme.

 

Whether Geale beats Murray is purely subjective.

Yildirim is a big lad, a light heavy. I don't get why you would say he was a tougher fight than Groves though? He is largely unproven. I'm looking forward to the fight though.

 

That was my point. Eubank lost to an unfit Saunders.

 

I can't see it either, but only because Eubank will continue to avoid the guy who beat him.
