#GGGmania is coming to an end September 16th!!

GGG will be ending the hype train that is Canelo.

 

GGGmania is only beginning my dear canelo fan.

 

After Saturday no one will be able to call GGG a hype job any more.

I'm picking Canelo to nick it by a round or two in the end but I'm sure it's going to be a tough fight, both are elite-level fighters and we will see that.

 

He'll never be considered an ATG though, because he stayed at middleweight to avoid stepping up and facing bigger names. 35 years old, and this is his first big fight. Pathetic really.

Can you imagine what GGG fans would say if it was anyone else who had done this?

 

Yes, I'm looking forward to the fight for sure!

Unfortunately this place on Saturday night / Sunday is going to be a disaster scene regardless of what happens.

The losing fighter will get disrespected, his fans will be taunted, and on the other side we'll hear every excuse under the sun, the referee will be criticized, the judges too, we'll hear about "cheating", "roids", "lucky shots", "hype jobs", "low blows", "rabbit punches", "punches after the bell", and either "Bumlovkin-lil g" or "Canyellow-El Pollo" or even both, besides some people will be far too emotionally involved to judge accurately and will have shutout cards even thought it's close, etc., etc.

You're right that Golovkin isn't likely to be an ATG, but it's not really his fault that he can only get a big fight at age 35.

There wasn't much at super middleweight either, and he was ducked mercilessly at MW for years. Canelo is the first big name to back himself against Golovkin.

 

Go create a hashtag

 

There has to come a time though when you say to yourself "okay, I'm not gonna get a big fight here, let's step up and fight Andre Ward (or someone)". Or fight anyone and become a multiple weight champion.

I'd respect him more if he stepped up, even if he took a beating, then not really challenge yourself throughout your career. If he loses, he really has little to fall back on in terms of his legacy, and no one to blame but himself.

Apart from Marvin Hagler (who to be fair to him there were big fights for him at MW), how many other great champions have stayed at MW?
