Step back in time...........Mike Tyson versus Andrew Golota

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Moralman, Jun 4, 2008.

  1. Thanks for the clip:good i enjoyed it, the was the last fight that Tyson looked really good in, he was bobbing-weaving throwing combinations, using good head movement, and had that hungry look, Golota looked kinda soft didn't have his usual muscle tone perhaps he didn't trian hard for the fight:patsch he was not focused throwing wide wild punches, not throwing the right as much, not using his jab or following up, he's also a hypocrite, complaining about Tyson headbutting him, while in his past fight's he bit people, and smashed Riddick Bowe's nuts so hard he had future health problems, i can't blame people for being pissed off either they pay hard earned money to watch a 2 round fight and see somebody quit, THAT WAS BULL****..

  2. Tyson got inside of Golota's head no way in hell was Andrew winning that fight, but he should have gone out on his shield..

    Dear Scorpy
    kind regards
    In response to your comments.

You bring up a good point actually.
Tyson's weight was perfect on that night, he was bobbing and weaving well and landing some good shots.
Plus Tyson looked composed during that fight and calmer than normal, he wanted to do things right after those laughable performances over here in the UK.
Also let us not forget that Lewis was hitting Tyson with authority, whilst Golota was almost afraid to throw punches.
Tyson may have had plenty in the tank, but you have to wonder how long the fight could have gone on for.
Golota would have likely continued fighting scared and Tyson would have won a points decision.
If Golota used his jab he could have won a points decision if he got through the later rounds, but then again, maybe Tyson would have stopped him even then.
The fact is though that Tyson didn't have a fight that stretched his ability from Holyfield to Lewis.
Prime for Prime Tyson destroys Golota quickly.

Golota didn't want to be there and didn't come out of his dressing room until he was forced out by Al Certo.
Certo was disgusted by his man's performance and rightly so.
    yours thankfully
    John

What happened is Golota got hit and didn't want to get hit anymore so he quit. He would have eventually got knocked out.

its a shame he quit really, as has already mentioned if he had hung in there and taken tyson into the second half of the fight i think he would have had a chance. thought he was doing ok and tyson looked quite sharp!!!!
nice to see the batman pic back again john!!!!!

    Dear jaois138
    kind regards
    I agree with you.
My belief is that Tyson would have knocked him out in round 3 and Golota saw the writing on the wall.
I think that I may have miscalculated the whole situation upon reflection.
Tyson was the right weight that night and was boxing well, he wouldn't have caved in as I thought he would.
Golota's jab probably wouldn't have been effective anyway, so he'd have to resort to roughouse tactics, but he is facing the master of roughhouse tactics.
He could have simply outclinched and outmuscled him, but then again it would have been a sloppy fight and Tyson would have still ended up winning on points.
Golota was put under pressure and he knew that he couldn't foul Tyson.
Tyson is meaner than Golota, he bit a chunk from Holyfield's ear out of anger, what would he have done if Golota tried any funny business?
Golota just wasn't in Tyson's league.
    yours thankfully
    John

I was in the gym with Al Certo after this fight and i asked Al what happened and he said " Come on you know what happened, he flipped out again"...what a lot of people dont know is Andrew had bad stage fright and when he got tagged really good he would get panicky and freak out.sad but true

A couple of things, why aren't people mentioning that Golota claimed to have suffered a fractured cheek bone (that i think was verified)? Also, Tyson did look good (albeit in 2 rounds but better than he had looked in a while and after. It may not have made a difference but at least this version of Tyson would've given Lewis early trouble if not more). Anyway, I respect Andrew for quitting assuming the broken cheek bone is true. He would be facing severe and permanent damage to fight on just to not be a "quitter." Guys with less balls would've "bravely" fought on because they were afraid to quit. It takes balls sometimes to not give a f...ck what people think.

    Dear Friends
    kind regards
Here is Lennox Lewis commenting on Tyson/Golota straight after the match happened.

Lewis was quite accurate in his analysis of the proceedings.

Tyson always beats Golota no matter time or place. Tyson is everything Golota fears. This fight was nothing more than pitting a FIGHTER against a 50/50 fighter. Mike looked good in this fight and did his thing, past prime or not, he still interests us with every move he makes.

    Dear Liston_Tyson
    kind regards
    I agree with your comments.
Golota couldn't match Tyson in any way and here are the facts.
    1. Golota can't handle fast starters, Tyson is one of the fastest starters in history.
    2. Golota's jab wouldn't be as effective hitting a smaller and faster guy than a big and lumbering guy.
    3. Golota's fouling doesn't match Tyson's fouling.
Tyson was just too good for Andrew Golota.
    yours thankfully

I believe the medical report said he had a fractured vertebrae in his kneck. If this was true then it was the right decision not to fight on. Tyson could have ended his career on that night if he had those injuries.

I was very dissapointed. He fought Bowe with a broken jaw in their second fight. I didn't expect to ever see him quit. But he is so erratic that anything could happen with him in the ring.

I'm pretty certain that Golota had a fractured neck vertabrae. I don't remember anything about his cheek bone though.

Geez watching that interview was tough. He really suffered stage fright in a big way. He was stuttering really really badly.
