Team Parker fuming as British referee appointed for WBO title fight in Manchester

Joseph Parker's handlers are "dismayed and appalled" at the decision to appoint a British referee for his WBO world heavyweight title defence against Hughie Fury.

Britain's Fury and Parker clash in Manchester on September 24.

The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) has appointed British referee Terry O'Connor - the same official in charge of Hughie Fury's last two bouts - to control the fight.

Parker should threaten to pull out unless its a referee from a neutral country

Why is there another thread for this?

It's simple, WBO just withdraw their sanction and it's a non-title fight - if Parker loses then perhaps he loses his title, but Fury can't win it.

If BBBoC / Team Fury want the title then stick to the contract and they have a chance to win the belt.

Its not right. This shouldnt happen in world title fights. The ref should be neutral. I want Fury to beat Parker but i dont want any home town favouritism by the ref and dont want any home town decisions either.

Parker should cancel the fight and go to court! The UK referee will help Fury out, watch and see, what about the criminal judges?

Golovkin is facing the same thing, criminal judges, referee and boxing commission................why is it that the hometown fighter always wins the decision no matter how badly he loses the fight?

This is Poor very poor... This fight is a sh*t show really.

    One thing after another.

I wouldn't blame Parker for pulling out, but would rather someone with some sense steps in and sorts this out.

The problem is not necessarily a UK ref - I'd be happy with a UK ref who had no ties to Warren / Team Fury - the problem is that they chose Terry O'Connor.

It's not a fair game boxing, im a brit but hate hometown decisions/referees/judges.

When are we going to see a neutral ref/judges for big fights? One day maybe......

Lol Parker's gonna get robbed by the gypsy clan. His only chance is knocking Fury out. And judging by his last 3 performances. That ain't very likely indeed. Lol what did you expect Joseph! Should have took Deontay's offer.

He couldn't, the WBO forced Parker to fight Fury next or get stripped. Parker's team tried to get out of the Fury fight after the "injury", they preferred to fight either Wilder or Whyte/Bellew.

Does it really matter who the ref is?

All this BS is just that, if parker is confident he will win he should not be worried about it, even if Tyson Fury was the ref, he should stop whingeing and do what he is getting paid to do, FIGHT.
