Team Parker furious at this appointment and every right given his record including:

    1. Rogering John McDonut when he clearly beat Tyson Fury by at least 6 rounds.
    2. Carrying Nathan Cleverley to his corner during the fight with Kovalev allowing the fight to proceed into another round.
    3. The amount of incredible cards produced by O'Con in his career clearly very different to both Boxing Pundits and fans.

Well Joe there is only one way you win this fight now - knock the fooker clean out so he is facing the ceiling!!!!

I also recall a few classic British stoppages that he has executed on poor hapless traveling fighters.

I cannot remember all of the specific fights, but you know the kind, foreign fighter is against the ropes dodging and ducking some punches through a tight guard, and British fighter is beckoning him over to stop it, throwing volume but not connecting anything of note...and he stops the fight. The foreign boxer is clearly not hurt and the fight should not have been stopped, but thats a British stoppage for you!

I remember Joe Calpslappy used to love him. Because he knew what he had to do to get that "KO" victory.

I now recall one- Joe Calslappy vs Manfredo.

Skip to 12 minutes 00 seconds and watch this beauty. Nothing connected but still stopped

Might as well have Gypsy John officiate with the judges being Phill Fury, Paris Fury and Peter Fury (while he simultaneously works Hughie's corner). Mick Hennessy can operate the clock.

I was just about the post about O'Connor being responsible for "the most British of all British stoppages", that is Joe Calzaghe v Peter Manfredo.
But I see destruction beat me to it.

I wouldn't be surprise if O'Connor is the pioneering figure in the whole "British stoppage" movement, the leading proponent of the foul practice that has tainted the good name of our country.

There's a possibility that nothing untoward is underfoot and it's just the fact that O'Connor is the only referee in the world who is willing and experienced enough to handle Hughie's skin condition.

"Shake hands, come on now, shake hands".

I feel that if Parker is to win he will have to knock him out anyway cos I can't see him outboxing Fury. Hughie's gonna be flicking out the jab and moving for 12 rounds. I think this is gonna be one for the boxing purists and an eyesore for anyone hoping for a Rocky IV fight.

I'd like to see Hughie win because he's a nice bloke and he's the underdog and it would be good to see him prove people wrong.

But I like Parker too and I think he's got a good deal of potential as well.

It's a decent fight for the division. It's a legitimate fight between two young undefeateds.

a really insulting one... Because Calzaghe was great and didn't need this to beat someone of Manfredos class.

Poor ref, disappointing. Boxing is the only sport where the ref and judges can be from the same country as one of the participants. It should not happen in world level fights.

Happens in rugby league too, mate. For a while we were saying the same thing but it was never a problem, if anything the ref seemed to hammer us more to prove a point.

I hate this stacking of the deck in the homeboy's advantage, certainly when it's with such infamous biased officials like O'Connor.
It's one of the major ways big boxing nations like the US, the UK and Germany can keep their champions in house, or steal belts from other nationalities.

But in that regard the US and the UK are even worse as Germany. Can you imagine the riots if Germany would appoint a German ref to an international titlefight?!
