Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux done, Dec. 9 on ESPN

In a sense, Rigo has created a "no lose" situation for himself. He either wins against a top P4P talent 2 divisions bigger, or he loses and can't really be knocked for it because of it.

That's from Rigo's perspective, though. That doesnt excuse people saying Loma would duck him from giving Loma zero credit because of the weight.

Do you consider Salido being a welterweight when he fought Loma being a weight bully? Because people hold that loss over Loma, seems like it goes both ways against him.

 

2 of my top 3 fighters. Hard to root for one over the other but I'm going with my brain. Loma has all the advantages. Youth. Length. Size is going to be the major factor. Rigo is way too small at 130 and he fell to lesser quality opponents. I don't see how Rigo wins this. It's a mismatch at this weight. Bob Arum didn't want a repeat of Rigo vs Donaire. He made sure Loma has all the advantages IMHO.

If Rigo wins he moves up on my list. If Loma wins, nothing changes. It's a fight Loma should win. The sad thing is after Loma wins, people will say size didn't matter and he would always beat Rigo.

 

And if Lomachenko wanted more credit, he should have agreed to 124 when he had the chance. Now he's accepted a fight where he's a 1/4 favorite over a guy two divisions smaller than him, fresh off dragging a guy coming off a loss up a division. Not really the kinds of challenges I associate with a top P4P fighter.

 

Not at all. People put too much into the weight. I don't. Salido was 146 to Loma's 138. 8 lbs. It was an inexperienced pro against a very crafty vet. A loss is a loss. I don't hold anything extra against Loma for losing. He has adjusted his game ten fold and is one of the top fighters in the game. Like I said, Rigo has real skill, and this is a fight that has me more excited than I've been in a good little while. May the best man win.

Hmmm, I don't recall anyone but the most partisan Floyd fans celebrating his dragging P4P rated Marquez up 2 divisions. Perhaps after Lomachenko beats Rigondeaux, he can further "challenge" himself by taking on other P4P guys like Inoue and Estrada as well.

 

You didn't like the fight before when it was discussed at 124/126, I wouldn't expect you to look favorably on it now lol

 

Correct, I thought it was a size mismatch then and an even bigger one now. Hopefully after his victory, Lomachenko will likewise display the same kind of fortitude that Rigondeaux is by taking this fight. It's only fair to expect him to similarly dare to be great.

Doesnt matter if 126 or 130. Loma will still be 140 something lbs.
Having to shed 12-14 lbs instead of 10 wont change anything.
