Thomas Hearns vs Canelo at "Canelo-weight"

Thomas Hearns. I never saw anyone outbox Hearns. Canelo wouldn't be able to pull that off. I don't know that he hits hard enough to KO Hearns even if he catches him. Tommy was very strong at `54 or`55. Even if Canelo has a granite chin and takes those laser like right hands I think he loses a decision.

The most likely outcome is Hearns by Knockout whenever that cross lands on the sweet spot. Canelo is a good fighter but the Hitman was an all time great.

 

I agree. Canelo would be hit with the left jab and then Tommy would drop in the right. Rather easy fight for Hearns. GGG is a tougher fight for Hearns because of the style of swarming or pressure. A technical guy never beat Hearns. You had to give him pressure and be able to take a punch.

 

Canelo would somehow have to convince Hearns to stand and brawl. If Hearns boxes him Alvarez will look like pepperoni pizza once the match is done.

 

This has spectacular ko by Tommy Hearns written all over it. Canelo would be coming in but getting hit by the hit man's jab easily. At some point, early on I imagine, Hearns drop s the right, catching Canelo flush. Bells in the head time!

 

Not one single "advantage" could save Canelo from Tommy mauling him.

A guy with feet that slow against Tommy? Canelo would be in a world of pain.

 

I feel to see how Canelo could win. He can't box with Tommy, and turning it into a slugfest, well, Canelo isn't a big puncher either.

Canelo would be outclassed.

 

No offence to the OP at all, because these fantasy match ups are why I started to contribute to this forum (I was lurking and just enjoying the banter for a year). But this is one of the easiest ones, I think. Hearns demolishes Canelo. Embarrasses him. Early KO. Sleep easy, Saul.

I think Canelo is slick and tough enough to see the end of the fight. But I just can't see him outboxing the Hitman, nor do I see how his plodding footwork is going to be able to close the ring off on Hearns to put pressure on him. His only chance is if Hearns gets sloppy and he counters him a good one. I suppose if they had a series he'd do it once.

 

Hearns by KO. Canelo is an average figher. Only time he stepped it up to the elite level, he was humiliated by light punching Floyd.
