Don't get me wrong I thought Golovkin won the fight but he can only blame himself for letting it go to the judges. He knew he would get a raw deal if it went to the scorecards so it was to be expected. He still has a good jab but he can't pull the trigger with anything else, he must have suddenly forgot about the hard body shots he was known for because they were basically non-existent. The man is clearly over the hill and will lose the rematch IMO, his power has dropped now he's slowed down drastically. The perfect record is now tarnished so take the rematchd, get another big payday and retire I say, his days are numbered. It's a shame he didn't meet any great fighters whilst in his prime, he would have wiped the floor with them a few years back.
He is on the downside, agreed. But he won the fight. And no one would fight him until recently. So, what happened is not his fault. Imagine if he were someone who would only fight with his judges and his location. That would have been a real loss for all fans. I credit him because he knew what he was getting himself into tonight, and he still took the challenge.
Yes I get that but are you surprised? He obviously didn't have it in him to take it out of the judges hands.
You are correct! No sense of urgency from GGG the last 3 rounds when the outcome was in doubt. The DISGRACE was not the draw, but the 118-110 scorecard!!
When your opponent is constantly backing off and only looking to slip and slide your punches, with no consistent attacking intent, and has world class skills and a solid chin...its very difficult to get the KO. GGG knows if Canelo had stood up like a man and fought a mans fight that his power would have flattened him. GGG is strongly advised in a rematch to have the fight in Europe and ensure all 3 judges are neutral. No more USA, with two pre-paid slot machine judges....
I'm not a little surprised but it shouldn't be the point, it was The Best vs The Best and Canelo is a tough SOB it shouldn't be a blot on Golovkin that he beat Canelo but didn't KO him
Well then go to the body with those devasting hooks, if Golovkin couldn't adjust when Canelo was slipping his right that's his problem.
I actually agree. Against Jacobs and Canelo where was his bodywork? Now you haev to give credit to jacobs for constantly moving and smothering him, but Canelo was laying on the ropes.
Another point is in this fight and the Jacobs fight he had nothing in the tank at the end, I honestly believed in the last two rounds if any fighter was going to get knocked out it would be Golovkin.
