Give over now, I'm Golovkin's biggest fan but I ain't afraid to tell it like it is. Canelo did what he had to do in the fight. If Golovkin can't get him out of there then that's on him.
He has a great chin but the shots were definitely having an effect on him dont you worry about that. They won't do him any favours for the inevitable rematch.
It's hard to KO when your opponent is only fighting to survive, and not to win... I don't take anything away from GGG .. He was in their to win, he proved that, and Canelo wasn't .. It's as simple as that. Golden boy Productions, hand picked judges, follow the money ... really not to hard to figure out
I have nothing bad to say about either fighter. They both put forth strong efforts. I thought GGG clearly won, but I also believe Canelo made a good account of himself.
Golovkin has been slowing down, of that there is little doubt. There's been a gradual decline since Murray at least.
Exactly, I was more concerned about Canelo landing a knockout punch late on than I was excited of the thought of Golovkin doing the same. Canelo looked the puncher in there which is crazy to say. Golovkin's power has definitely diminished IMO.
You're probably right. But I'm not sure that he's declined all that much, and I do believe the scope of the event overwhelmed him a bit early, where he was uncharacteristically showing some early nerves.
There's no stopping the money machine .. unfortunately boxing has been going down hill for years now.. Look at what Floyd just pulled off.. used the boxing forum to collect 300 million against someone who has never had boxed before in a match,, lol ... That's what boxing has turned into
GGG's legs have slowed considerably. He hasn't shown the same footspeed he did when he first arrived in the US, nor does he get the same torque on his punches. Definitely in decline.
The axiom is that "power is the last to go" so I have to disagree with you here. A lot of the credit here goes to Canelo's chin and defense.
Agreed, but Alvarez didn't land enough or throw enough to win. He landed the shots that looked more impactful but that didn't change the momentum. GGG controlled the fight....he walked Nelo down, cut the ring off and controlled the distance. Nelo was reactive and GGG was proactive. Landing more and throwing more.
I don't believe that saying, Mike Tyson is a good example of this IMO. If you lose that bit of speed it affects your power. Don't get me wrong he's still a strong puncher but he has lost that shock factor for me.
