    114-114 versus FMJ
    118-110 versus GGG
    119-109 versus Cotto

    ATG in the making....

The odds didn't heavily favor GGG. They were close and a lot of the public thought Alvarez would win if the fight went 12. Most believed Nelo would outbox GGG or GGG would score a knockout.....not many thought it would be GGG winning a decision or being the more effective fighter down the stretch

He landed a few meaningful shots, but the problem was he couldn't land more than one at a time. He's not a Tyson type guy IMO, he has the KO ratio he has because he can stun people easily and then finish them from there. He stunned Canelo a few times but could not capitalize. Canelo did a great job of getting out of danger and recovering, and also GGG kept backing off, perhaps respecting Canelo's skill and power a little too much to go full bezerker mode as he often does.

118-110 was wrong, obviously. 3G was marginally ahead for providing more aggression ni pure boxnig terms, but a draw is fine too as Canelo was defensively better.

Canelo wouldn't even crack the top 200 of ATG's

It's pretty clear to me that Canelo is maxed out as a real solid fighter, but not a great one. Don't see GGG as a great fighter, either. A good number of middleweights would have beaten both in my opinion - not to knock them as both are excellent and tough as nails.

both canelo and 3g extnded their cases for being elite tonight but I am afraid a draw isnt a major addition to the case.

ATG is out of the question.

Good post and I agree on all points. I like both styles and both are excellent fighters. Canelo is very skilled and Golovkin is technically superb but they have flaws that the true greats would expose. Even a blown up middleweight in Roberto Duran would make both look silly. The Duran who competed with prime Marvin Hagler would school both, that I have no doubt.

Hagler, Monzon and Freddie Steele >>> GGG and Canelo on the same night.
