I would have had GGG barely winning, but just on aggression and throwing punches, but the draw sort of makes sense. The one judges scorecard was rather ridiculous, but GGG didn't throw punches to the body and really didn't hit Canelo clean.

Sanchez has a lot of explainin' to do.
Either Gennady had injuries coming into the fight, either they simply sold out.
It was too very strange to see how much respect GGG showed Alvarez throughout the contest.

he just could not land it, even when he scored some good shots he could never follow up with it, and those good shots for the most part were hitting canelo as he was pulling away and rolling with the shot

i said to my mate during the fight how amazing it was for GGG to neglect going to the body of canelo, a guy notorious for having gas tank problems.. if he went there a little bit more (OR AT ALL!) he might have slowed him even more so in the stretch and would have enabled him to mount those vicious seek and destroy punches he is known for on a target that would have been much more sluggish and stationary

I think Golovkin made a mistake when he joined Sanchez all those years ago tbh. He was terrible in the corner, where was the call for body work from Golovkin?

    Exactly.
I mean, Alvarez is known for his head feints; it's been his bread and butter vs jabbers like Trout and Lara.
Sanchez must have prepared Gennady to target the body if they couldn't connect upstairs.

Yet, Gennady didn't. And Sanchez refused to remind him.
    It's completely baffling.

uhh , why didn't he go to the body?? ...uhhh , why didn't he just walk him down and knock him out??

Golovkin's hands were too slow to target his body. He wouldn't have gotten his hands back up in time to block the eye catching counters that would have caught his head.
Plus he isn't an inside fighter and he spent the entire fight at mid range distance.
Its not rocket science if you know what you're watching.

He could have easily whipped in some hard hooks to the body but refused to, what's the point in pinning someone on the ropes and not making the most of it.....

He didn't pin him to the ropes , he stayed outside hitting rage to avoid being countered and thats why he went home with a draw.

He had him on the ropes, he didn't let the hands go. You make of it what you will but he could have done much more.

And exactly the same thing happened in the Jacobs fight; Gennady threatening, pressing, but not letting his hands go nor getting to the body.
One could forgive it because of Jacob's size, athleticism and stick and move.

But against shorter, cement-feet Canelo ?
    What's going on ?

Maybe he's getting gun shy because I can't for the life of me think of any other reason other than purposely holding back which tbh is rubbish. He has a good chin no doubt but I feel he's more vulnerable than Marvin Hagler ever was, I don't believe he has the chin or the fire of Hagler when in the trenches.

Canelo didn't have cement feet in this fight. Actually he moved around the ring more than Jacobson did. He fought GGG the same way Lara fought him.

He missed 500 punches over the course of the fight. He let his hands go plenty. He couldn't land clean and was fearful of being countered clean. Its not that complicated .

Because Canelo was countering well off the ropes and moved well off them?
