GGG can only blame himself.

GGG totally neglected the body. I want a reporter to ask him why. He's the better body puncher.

Yes me too, the reporters are infuriating with their lack of boxing knowledge. I would press him on so many matters if I could talk to him.

LOL to be fair though Gennady just says whatever in response to questions that he either doesn't understand or is disinclined to answer.

"Why do you think Canelo was effective?"
"This is box. I want to give big drama show. Hi to my fans in Kazakhstan."

I honestly expected a series of BS scores like 118-110 in Canelo's favour if it went to the cards. GGG needs to count himself very, very lucky that he got away with his belts. That said, a draw wasn't the worst result either.

I feel GGG won relatively clearly if narrowly, however, Canelo did enough to warrant a win if you like his style of fighting ... Golovkin needs to turn up the heat in the rematch or he will lose on a similar performance.

LOL as I clicked on your quote, I see you just deleted the first part of your statement about Golovkin having a power punch edge in 8 rounds. Another poster just reported that Canelo had a power punch edge in 7 of the 12 rounds. Well which is it? I don't think we can rely on punch stats, it seemed clear to me that Canelo landed the more flashy, the more earth shattering punches. That much seemed pretty clear to me. That doesn't mean you can't make the argument that G won on aggression and volume.

No he's not lol. That's one thing we learned tonight : Canelo proved that he's definitetly the better body puncher. G had a goose egg on body punches about halfway through the fight. I think we all know why :G trying to land body punches on Canelo would open himself up to a great amount of punishment. Canelo is a more versatile fighter, clearly.

GGG may be in decline but his last 3 opponents have been the best he's faced. Hard to look dominant against top comp all the time.

Man, I totally disagree on Canelo being the better body puncher. GGG has destroyed guys with his liver shot ... 1 punch KO's. Yet Golovkin threw and landed something like four body shots the whole fight. He took Canelo's best shots and didn't blink. WHY did he not do more bodywork? I'm totally stumped there especially since Saul's suspected to be soft to the body.

That said what I will say for Canelo is that his footwork has improved twice over. His footwork was much, much better and he used it to good effect by taking the steam off GGG's punches. He's also levelled up his punch resistance, and that little head flick he did when Gena landed was all Duran. Sweet.

I like this Canelo much more than the previous versions I have seen

I got ahold of a bad link.

Golovkin landed more punches in 10 round, 12 was even.
Canelo landed more power punches in 7 of 5 rounds. But 2 were by just 1, and 4 total were less than 2. Golovkins rounds were by a wider margin.

And i disagree. Golovkin was never hurt, Canelo was, Golovkin landed more telling blows.

The power punch stats are near equal, jab made the difference

Golovkin has not thrown body shots in his last two rounds, if he had his last two fights would have been knockouts!

You're literally counting glancing punches that Canelo partially blocked or slipped that compubox counted as the "difference". Canelo had significantly more body punches and a power punching advantage. And it wasn't just the number of power punches counted, it was the quality of the punches.

I agree he won but he knew what would happen should it go to the scorecards.

No ! He can blame Adelaide Byrd! Why should he blame himself for incompetent judging?
