Interesting, if Golovkin had won 1 of those last 3 rounds on the 114-114 card he would've won the bout...how did y'all see the last 3 championship rounds going?
I had it 6-5 Golovkin going into round 12. I thought Golovkin finished stronger so had it 7-5 for GGG; 115-113.
I had Canelo 2 up to begin with, than it was all GGG till the 11th. GGG won the final rd, and he showed why Canelo run all night after Canelo did grow a small pair and decided to engage a little. He almost got knocked out.
The 114 114 card gave Canelo round 7! He would have just given Canelo 9-12 if he needed to. It was a fix
Yeah. With this level of Cinnamon favouring, he should be happy to get a Draw in a fight he easily won 8 rounds.
He's lucky he didn't lose, with all those cracking flashy punches Canelo landed, with all those body punches Canelo landed, with how few body punches G landed. He didn't land enough clean effective punches to win. Yes, he was stalking Canelo, yes Canelo was on the backfoot for a good portion of the fight, but Canelo was setting up punches and coming back with bombs. Canelo landed more bombs than G landed. You can't cry robbery when your opponent lands the harder more cracking punches and lands significantly more body punches.
His footwork is horrible. And even with this horrible footwork, "feet of stone" managed to get away from gg's pressure. Gg's footwork is extremely overrated. He was smart not facing ward, ward would have toyed him all night long, no doubt.
He fought well but I personally don't think he fought the best fight he could have possibly fought. I expect him to be much sharper in the rematch.
Well that's just it, Canelo was much more fleet footed than anyone gave him credit for going into the fight. Almost everybody I heard said that G had better footwork, and Canelo showed in this fight he can move and get out of range quite well. Personally I thought Canelo fighting inside more would have suited him, but he decided to outbox more than expected and he did it very well. The fighting off the ropes was impressive too. Most said that Canelo couldn't fight G off the ropes and he proved that theory wrong.
I wouldn't go that far though, G had him either cornered or fleeing the majority of the time over the second half of the fight
