I don't thin anyone who faced Hagler would knock out Golovkin, personally, but that's neither here nor there really.

No. If that's what you drew from my post, you definitely need to re-read my post. I think that Conn's chin was more PROVEN (try to really take that in this time - not BETTER, MORE PROVEN), because he didn't get knocked out at middleweight, light-heavyweight, or against some heavyweights.

I'm sorry, I can't talk to you any more. Golovkin is a far superior boxer to Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore?

    That is a ridiculous statement.

In all honesty I don't think there has ever been anyone up to 168 pounds who could knock Golovkin out. Maybe get a decision but I just can't see him getting knocked out, I have never seen him hurt yet alone being close to touching the canvas.

Everyone has someone that can get to them I think.

But Golovkin has an absolutely elite chin. Whether or not it could stand up to a nine-punch combo from Roy Jones or a two-piece from Bob Sattersfield is unknown and unless he faces some very good punchers and survives as his career winds down, it can never be assumed.

But it's a great chin - incredible is a reasonable word to use about his punch resistance I think.

At MW? 160lbs or below. I'm not crapping on both fighters as they are legends of the sport. Were they both legends at MW?
As for technical boxing, GGG's jab, power and chin would give anybody in the history of boxing a nightmare at 160lbs. Froch never wanted any of it, neither did Martinez, FMJ tried to throw Direll his way years ago when asked about him. He's been more avoided than Rigo and Loma combined.

these guys both have iron chins. All those slugs that 3G just walked through, he just kept advancing as if nothing happened for most of the fight. Sure he looked like he look like her was holiday but he just kept toughing it.

And those bombs in round (2?) that Canelo just casually shook his head at, TWICE - to do that to 3G, you have to be hard as phuc (and very cheeky boy too). 3G's shots werent quite so ignorable as the fight progressed.

I did think of Jake LaMotta in particular... But I feel Golovkin's chin is better.

On the topic of GGG's chin, he's never been dropped in his professional career or in 400 amateur fights. Not just never knocked out, but never even seen the canvas. And the guy fights in a way where he gets hit constantly by full power punches. He's extremely hittable. He's never even seemed LEGIT stunned once except one shot landed by Lemiuex (I think it was) which might not even have been a true "stun" but more of a shock reaction.

Furthermore, he has landed a KO blow WHILE taking a full power hook to the chin, and just walks through ridiculous shots without even flinching, just with that psychotic "okay let's ****ing do this then" nod he does before the fireworks start. The way he reacted to a few of those full power shots Canelo was landing, it was like he'd just eaten a light jab or something.

Sometimes he just puts his head out unprotected and lets his opponent hit him with like a 20 punch combo.

It's obviously very unnatural. There's something not right about his skull or neck that's preventing him from being rocked.

Let's set aside discussion of the scoring and focus on another specific aspect of the fight, but also my thread will have a poll asking whom you thought won...

this is a joke right? can you just re read this sentence and tell me how wrong you are? not even on a boxrec-fact checking level, but just on the semantic level.

If you want to mention to me any boxers from that era at MW who hit harder than GGG, please do educate me?

You're probably one of those fans who think the older generation of boxers somehow, miraculously always beats modern day boxers despite being slower, less boxing educated and less technically sound.

    lol. :nut:

Golovkin is meant to be one of the hardest hitters in history yeah ? Well what does that say about smaller Canelo's chin that he went 12 rounds against him and was never hurt , wobbled , dropped or anywhere close to being stopped.
And by most accounts GGG beat him therefor landed more punches on him.
That must make Canelo's jaw top 3 in history right?

Amazing that GGG is being praised for having this unbreakable chin when it was Canelo who was faced against the power puncher.

Its a mixture of Canelo's chin and upper body movement that makes him hard to hit, is to why he's pretty damn durable.

GGG didn't land much power that's why Canelo lasted. I recall 3 times where he hit Canelo with a devastating strike (one on the neck). And Golovkin doesn't have Mike Tyson type power, he's the type of guy with cumulative power, he can stun easy when he gets a good hit in, but it's his relentless power combinations and vicious attacking of hurt opponents that has granted him his insane KO ratio. He kept backing off of Canelo, either willingly or because he got countered and Canelo rallied.

Against Canelo he didn't land much with full power, most of his power shots missed. He was being cautious mostly throwing medium power or even light shots.

His chin is phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal.

There is no rational basis whatsoever for arguing differently. I couldn't care less how he lines up on some historical list.

The same is applicable with GGG. He fought very defensively and didn't get caught clean a whole lot but he's somehow meant to have an inhuman chin based off this fight?
Ridiculous . Canelo isn't even a puncher against lighter guys.

If anybody proved to have the better chin it was Canelo.
