Round 1: Canelo (Clear) Round 2: Canelo (Clear) Round 3: GGG (Close but clear) Round 4: GGG (Close be clear) Round 5: GGG (Canelo had some moments, but not enough) Round 6: Canelo (Close, but Canelo landed enough clean shots to take it, but could go either way) Round 7: GGG (Clear) Round 8: GGG (Clear) Round 9: GGG (Very close, could go either way, like round 6) Round 10: Canelo (Canelo owned the first 1/2 of the round, GGG didn't do enough to win it back) Round 11: Canelo (Close, but clear) Round 12: Canelo (Clear, landed a lot of good shots) So there it is. Each round was a story about, did Canelo land enough flashy and clean shots, to make up for his long breaks and GGGs pressure? 114-114. Even. We need Big Drama Rematch.
I had the first 3 and last 3 for Canelo, and also felt he wom in between, but thats just going off memory and I have not officially scored it. With that said, both fighters proved to back their hype and disprove some of their hype.. GGG took Canelo's best punches Canelo neutralized GGGs power
1, 6, 10 and 11. Your whole idea of how to judge boxing is flawed. Your perception of what happened is distorted, as 90% of public and pundits agree.
I need to watch it again, im seeing alot of people giving him the final 3 rounds and thats just not how i remember it, the 12th i gave him but 10 and 11. I just remember him having a short spell at the start of the rounds where he used up most his energy then just got tracked around the ring getting tagged by GGG, he may of thrown a couple of flashy counters back but GGG cleaned up on work rate. But im guna have to watch it back cuz so many are saying the same as yourself.
10th was close. But he was lighting GGG up early in that round. And I think that work he did, was enough to give him the round, even though GGG came on and was pressuring him and won the second part of the round.
First off all there is no way canelo won all of the first 3 or last 3. The last 3 was GGG throwing all caution to the wind trying to finish the fight off with a KO. He allowed Canelo to hit him at will and just kept coming forward hitting him more and harder. GGG threw and landed more punches in these rounds. And even if these were close rounds, since when does the guy coming forward forcing the action not get the benefit of the doubt? GGG was the entire fight though. And the 12th round, GGG put an exclamation mark on it the last 10 seconds, chasing Canelo down, throwing punches while canelo backpeddles, not willing to exchange anymore praying for the bell. GGG was taking canelo apart, and canelo's body language was a guy that was getting broken down and gassed and GGG could have easily stopped coming forward the last 3 rounds and just boxed canelo's ears off and sat on his lead but he was so determined to give everyone their money's worth, he wanted to make the last 3 rounds a war and KO canelo, and had no problem allowing canelo to tee off on him. GGG fought like a winner, canelo fought like a loser. Body language told the entire story. 116-112 at worst GGG.
I think Canellos lack work is all that made his bursts stand out. GGG equalled his power shots, pressed forward and scored with the jab throughout. That was the story of round 10, and more or less the fight as a whole.
How can you give round 1 to Canelo... he barely let his hands go and his jab was non existent... clear round for ggg watch it again... I had it 7-5 ggg
There is no way you can possibly make an argument that GGG won the first round. If you expect people to engage you in a good debate you have to be honest.
Canelo landed the only real power shots in round 1. To body and head. I suggest YOU watch it again and count the punches each fighter landed.
