Canelo's shots were more on point. They landed crisper, cleaner, and neutralized what GGG does for long stretches. One glancing power shot is not equal to a clean power shot.
I agree that canelos moments stood out more, because they were flashier, and they came out of nowhere during long periods of inactivity. That's why I gave almost the entire fight to GGG from rounds 3-9 (except 6). But there were rounds where Canelos random counters and clean shots out-weighed GGGs work. You can't win rounds by laying on the ropes, shaking your head, and not landing clean counters. But you also can't win rounds by stalking a guy, but not landing anything significant....while gettin countered. And that's how some rounds went.
Watch rounds 6 and 10 again. Your scoring is pretty bad in these rounds. When in doubt check the punch stats. If you want to be fair ggg could have won round one.
It's easier for the guy who spends most of the fight on the back foot to land crisper punches as the aggressor is usually standing in front of him. While the aggressor has to chase down the coward to land his shots.
At 2:10 neither man had landed anything, at 2:06 Canelo lands a right power punch to the body. From there GGG paws with the Jab very hesitant to do anything else. Then at 1:18 Canelo again lands a hard jab immediately followed by a left hook to the body, then both land jabs simultaneously. Canelo still up Both GGG land little feeler punches for the remaining round until the 0:32 mark when Canelo again counters Golovkin and finishes the round attacking. Again, CLEAR Canelo round.
Go watch it again. Canelo outlanded GGG in that round and landed at least 3 solid power punches to GGGs 0 clear power punches.
The reason people are giving 8+ rds to Golovkin here is because they don't know how to score great defense. That's what won Canelo rds, he showed amazing defense in that fight. He took a guy who is known for his accuracy and precision and made him look very inaccurate. GGG fans here are just watching GGG's work. You have to watch the work of both fighters.
