I thought it was a good fight. Like one of the previous comments, GGG landed more, but i also felt like canelo's were cleaner. I can see the win angle from both sides, and if there is a rematch, it should be their next fight.

 

Terrified of what? Alvarez hit him with all he had and he walked straight through it. But there is no doubting Alvarez has a great chin.

GGG's face was marked up, but didn't swell to the size of a medicine ball. That's silly. Both men were marked up. GGG more so but he marks up easy any how. The right side of Nelo's face had swelled up just like GGG's face did on both side. Nothing noteworthy there. It's boxing. It's not just GGG fans calling the decision a robbery. It's the VAST majority from the casual fans to pro boxers, analysts and sports writers. Many of the same people who were calling for Alvarez to beat GGG are the same people who called it what it was. A robbery or a gift decision for the Golden Boy promoted fighter. Not that I'm surprised....it was a bad decision but the overwhelming consensus I've seen is crazy. Guys like Paulie, Badou Jack, Teddy Atlas, Lennox Lewis, Chavez Jr, Antonio Tarver, Mike Tyson, Steve Albert, Mikey Garcia...I mean, the list goes on and on. They all are calling it a robbery or a terrible decision. That's gotta sting a bit for Alvarez whom I know has a lot of pride. So even if he says he thought he won. Hearing from his peers and even his own fans saying he got a gift has got to brun

That was actually a close fight that could have gone either way. There wasn't a mass outcry like there is now calling this a robbery. There's no split here like there was for the decision with Ward vs Kovalev. This time it's completely onsided

Since when did marking up of the face determine the winner of a fight? Theoretically a fighter could land 50 punches and cause a couple of cuts and his opponent could land 150 punches and cause little facial damage.

@Dfaulds is in the league, in the WBK, SR7 never had any interest in that. SR7 was always starting infalmmatory threads, Dfaulds doesn't do that. Besides, the style of the posts is different.

 

Golovkin won this fight handily. There's zero need for a rematch other than for financial gain. a rematch with Jacobs would actually be more interesting. Corruption wouldn't be as much of an issue either. Personally.... I'd like to see GGG get the final belt against Saunders and then either retire or face the winner of the SMW tournament.

 

Of course it's silly. Dino always makes up hyperbolic crap like that and expects people to swallow it. It's his defining characteristic.

 

...It's already September. You say "next year" like there's a chance it'd happen in 2017 but Canelo will stall.
