    Alvarez fought Khan at "middleweight"
    Golovkin fought Brook at middleweight.
Be honest, some of you here actually bought those fights.
Are we going to holdng BJS to a higher standard ? I can't really because I don't rate him with those guys, he's a tier below.

Khan is always willing to get KO'd, and needs the money.

    The fight would sell.

    It kinda makes sense.

A lot of you people bought Haye-Bellew and all that other **** and you'll be buying this **** too if it happens. I reckon.

I'd like to see BJS against a top Middleweight in Decemeber. I'm sure the Khan fight sells, but I'm not interested in that to be honest. I wouldn't mind Lemeiux for BJS.

I think Billy Joe would lose a lot of respect if he pursues this fight. Khan been sparked at LW. It's a cowardly move. Not long ago Saunders and Booth (when they were together) were saying that he will soon be moving up to 168.

It's a desperate money grab from Bill. He spent most of Spring/Summer calling out Golovkin, he should be screaming for that fight now.

He called Canelo a "shitebag" for vacating the WBC. What does that make Bill for calling out a Welter with a glass chin?

Also both those fights were a joke. Everyone with a clue about boxing knew both fights would end with the Welters getting brutalised. It was just a few Matchroom fantasists who argued that Brook had a chance. Fighters two weight classes apart should NEVER have a sanctioned fight IMO.

    I agree.
But people actually BOUGHT those fights.
    That's the bottom line.

Golovkin and Alvarez got paid. Brook and Khan got paid. Promoters and television corporations got paid.
The boxing fans who lost respect didn't make any impact.

The same with David Haye. And in his case not only did he manage to SELL his joke fight mismatch with Bellew, he actually managed to LOSE it too !
And, if anything, he seemed to WIN respect by doing so.
    People actually buy this crap.

I won't even go into Mayweather v McGregor. Suffice to say, people buy the bad fights, the joke fights, and the fans who don't are almost non existent.

I can honestly say I didn't buy or watch any of those live. And I still haven't seen May v Mac and doubt I'll be doing so any time soon. But I'm not typical. Most fans, even knowledgeable ones, do actually want to see these fights live and do pay for the privilege. If they really didn't want it they wouldn't buy it.

I predict BJS v khan would be a big money fight and very popular among domestic boxing viewers.

Canelo showed that supposedly "lost respect" can be easily redeemed anyway.

His fans never really deserted him at all anyway.

And Saunders has far fewer fans and fewer littler respect anyway. He has hardly anything to lose.

Obviously, the ideal plan for BJS would be to get an easy payday high profile domestic fight like this BEFORE he cashing out with a fight against a high risk middleweight.

My advice: Just don't buy it.

Saunders needs to keep busy, getting Khan to sign a contract to fight is like nailing jelly to a wall. Saunders needs to be ticking over with keep busy fights. It's a shame he's not appreciated for his top level skill. People bang on about Eubank and he's not even on his level but unfortunately him and his dad know how to play the game outside the ring with the panto show.

Maybe Dominic Ingle and Brook put him upto it. If Brook can't get him maybe Saunders can and give him another knockout (career ending) loss.

Alvarez thought Khan a 155 did he not?

Golovkin never called out Brook. That fight came about due to Eubank Jnr messing about. Even still fighting an undefeated WW world champion at 160 is totally different to fighting a WW who is damaged goods as Khan is.

Saunders could fight a Jacobs or a Charlo but his simply holding the belt hostage. His a paper champion!!!

Yes, but I never thought Saunders was a real world champion or anything like that. I won't hold him to the standards of a Golovkin. He's a paper champion, yes.
The WBO (Warren Boxing Organization) belt has a long history of bad British champions holding the belt hostage on these shores.

Saunders is the best British middleweight, that's all.

A win over Khan would be meaningless in real boxing terms. We can all agree with that. But it's exactly the sort of fight most boxing viewers would buy into.

I suspect Amir Khan has actually been doing the rounds pleading for these fights. He needs the money with the divorce business and I think people in boxing want to help him out, especially when they know his name still brings a lot of money to the table.

Khan doesn't do big numbers in the UK. His attendances are low.

Besides, he hasn't won a fight in years and has been laid out the last few times.

Literally nobody cares about this fight other than Billy.

But how does it sell for Saunders if he wins?

Because if he doesn't lay Khan out, people will say well Canelo did, and GGG would maim Khan.

If he does win, yeah but Khan isn't what he was, Canelo sparked him cold, and he's not relevant.

    It's a total lose/lose for both fighters.

    Not really a lose/lose. ....

BJS will get paid and he'll still have the WBO title, which is the only "world title" Golovkin doesn't have.
That means every middleweight in the world who wants to be a world champion has to go after Golovkin or BJS.

It's called "milking the title". If you can take on soft touches for good money and keep the real contenders waiting, then that makes financial sense. Then IF you beat the next worthy real contender too, people will forgive/forget the soft touch and it's just money in the bank.
IF you lose to the real contender, again you did right by facing the soft touch also, because ... because it's money in the bank.

Don't get me wrong, it's a joke fight.
But I swear most people here who complain about these fights end up buying them ! And the casuals, well, they will lap it up.

I'm not at all convinced BJS-Khan will actually happen though.

I know exactly why it's happening.

You say it's milking, and to a degree it is, but BJS is petrified of the top boys like GGG & Canelo. He wants no part of them.
