That means Golovkin could fight Saunders / whoever in January and be bang on schedule for Canelo in May.
GGG dispatches Saunders or Cotto in less than 6 rounds. A revenge could make sense financially in 2018 but we already saw all there is to know about these two boxers : GGG is the best.
I don't mind the rematch but do it May 2018 at the latest... Canelo will try to push it back again to wait even longer for GGG to age watch lol.
Still a big name, a good fighter and a great event. I wouldn't mind seeing that. BJS doesn't bring much to the table except his title and, maybe, some trash talking. I'd be glad to see him knocked senseless though.
And there was probably a better case to score the fight for Ward than there was for scoring it for Canelo. It wasn't that close in my opinion as there is no reasonnable way to score more than 5 rounds for Canelo.
I'm only afraid Oscar will buy 2 scorecards in the rematch instead of just one. It was a close fight. Both men showed a lot. But 10-2 proves what many GGG fans thought before the fight. That GGG won't get a fair shake. 10-2 proves that.
People aren't excited for the rematch because of the corruption involved, not because they think Canelo can mount a serious challenge. If they fight inside the next 6 months I see Golovkin winning even more clearly as their won't be a feeling out process from the onset.
Dude you're perception on reality is extremely miscued, you're sounding like a little fanboy. Most fight fans including myself just wanted to see a good fight the other night and for the best man to win. GGG won that fight clearly, deny it all you want but the vast majority know what they saw. Why would anyone want to see a rematch after some ridiculous scoring like that? It also seems to be a recurring theme in some of Canelo's recent fights. I'd suggest to just try and be honest with yourself and stop hugging onto Canelo's nuts.
I'm not afraid of the rematch, whilst I prefer GGG to Canelo I'm a fan of boxing before I'm a fan of either of those two so a rematch sounds great. The thing is though the rematch absolutely has to be on 5th May (a Saturday no less) but with Golovkin in the twilight of his career the best thing he can do right now is to stay active. As Roy always says, aging bowlers (be it in baseball or cricket) don't lose their pace throughout a season, they lose it in the off-season. Eight months is a long time for Golovkin to wait, so there's no problem with him having a comfy 6-8 round blowout against BJS in Dec/Jan to become Undisputed Champion before getting back to business against Canelo in May.
It kind of reminds me of Lewis vs Holyfield, people stayed away from the rematch because they assumed Lewis would be robbed again and it sold poorly compared to the 1st fight.
I really hope there is a rematch, loved the 1st fight. Cant see Oscar allowing this to be made with stricter rules on his fighter and the fight being made outside of Nevada and i cant see K2 allowing it to be made within the state lines of Nevada with no real drug testing for Canelo. I can see the 2 sides clashing on these details and the fight not being made and then we are back to square one. Hope it happens but if it doesnt its not the end of the world, 95% of people who saw that fight knows GGG won. The rest either think draw or Canelo victory. I just wanted to see the 2 of them fighting. They did and GGG won. Hell of a performance by Canelo, i questioned his credentials as a Middleweight but he looks a brilliant Middleweight, but GGG won.
Then why idoes GGG's face resemble a watermelon? GGG is LUCKY he has a great chin, that is the ONLY thing that kept him on his feet, but having a great chin does not make one a great boxer. Canelo caught him with the best shots and battered him for at least 7 rounds, and while everyone was going on about GGG's "awesome" power, we only saw pitter patter punches from him. For me, that doesn't win fights, he was only able to give the illusion he was the aggressor because he was able to keep moving forward due to his chin, but all he did was eat leather all night.
