    Good post.
I'd like this to at least run well, not because I think it's going to be a great card or anything, but so that there's another viable accessible avenue for promoters to broadcast their fights.
The virtual monopoly at the top is damaging to the health of the industry.

    Okay.
Why was he acting like that ?
It makes no sense. He should have been at the table.

Is Terry O'Connor related to the Furys ?
Or is he Hennessey's cousin ?

There was in fact a seat at the table for him. Why he didnt sit down I dont know, probably too pissed would be the best bet.

I think the whole Channel 5 deal collapse thing has weakened Mick significantly. If he still had that deal then at least he'd be getting a guaranteed rights fee.

I hope this falls flat on its face. Two pay broadcasters is fair enough but the recent explosion into itv, channel 5, dave, freesports, youtube, sky, box nation and who knows what else is spreading the product too thin.

We can all say something about Micks promotional abilities, and I haven't been slow in questioning them, but one thing he dies come across as a straight shooter. The YouTube platform is an indeal one for live PPV boxing if done right but I think it's been mocked by many as it's Mick that's brought it to reality. Depending on how it's done it could be crap or it could be great. One thing I am confident off, it will make more money on YouTube PPV than it would if it were sold to a channel as away of broadcasting rights. They have been smart by advertising it on IFL videos, as that's their market right there.

I think all platforms deserve a chance.
Whether this particular fight is worth buying for £14.99, I wouldn't say so.
But youtube PPV is a fresh idea and if it runs well it has advantages over the other platforms.

In the UK you are required to pay { TV licence + channel subscription fees } before you even get round buying a PPV.
With SKY, dedicated sports fans are insulted further by having to buy the PPV on top of hefty monthly sports package subscrption fees.

With youtube you just need internet.

Parker must have seen all them sell out O2 cards and thought I can't wait to experience that myself.

Gets over here and hears 3000 tickets sold. What a disastrous promotion.

Is Hennessy actually losing money on this fight??

You know he is only going with YouTube as he couldn't find a decent TV deal right?

This is exactly what I think. I'm open to the idea but I don't personally think this fight is worth £14.99.

Yea a sneaky fiver for this fight would be easy to swallow

All I seem to do lately is pay for ppv it's starting to annoy me. I'm sure it'll alienate most boxing fans pretty soon .

Without the fans it's nothing. It 'll go back to the dark ages

Totally agree. £4.99 would be the perfect price point for this.

It is the kind of pricing that may tempt the casuals who would be surfing around youtube looking for something to watch for an hour. I don't think they have done any research on their pricing to be charging £14.99.

I'm working on Saturday night, so I'm just going to stay off here and all other news outlets and watch the fight for free a few hours later.

Totally agree with the above on the pricing.

The Idea of youtube as a new platform is brilliant IMO... Its brave, bold and could work brilliantly.

The problem here is its a rushed job...

    • the fight itself has very little promotion,
    • the fighters dont really have a fan base (Parker does but in a territory not showing the fight via youtube),
    • There is little confidence in the promotion being an decent quality.
    • Poor quality undercard.
    • Even the fight itself its a good fight but other channels would be hard pushed to put this on PPV.
    • Its seems expensive for what it is at 15.99

I can see a future for youtube and this model but they could of been building up the idea for months and doing it properly. Instilling confidence in production quality etc.
