I am going to watch the fight agian, this will be my 3rd viewing. Watching it live i gave it to Golovkin, 2nd time i gave it to Golovkin again so which rounds should i really be paying attention to, which are the ones you feel Golovkin has been favoured in by alot of people that you just dont agree with?

    1 Even
    2-3 Canelo
    4-5 GGG
    6 Canelo
    7-9 GGG
    10-12 Canelo

Canelo 6-5-1 no problem for me if anyone scored it 8-4 either way or in between. Closer than many make it out to be IMO. I like both guys but am not a fan of either one for whatever that is worth

Lamps really sold to the audience that canelo swept 10-12. While he had more success, he still only fought in spots in those rounds.

The only possible Canelo rounds are 1-3 and 10-12. That leaves the fight a draw. I think some feel the 5th was close enough to give Canelo too, which would make it 7-5 Canelo. (I disagree. I had 4-9 as solid GGG rounds)

BUT: This is giving ALL the marginal rounds to Canelo and a bit of a gift of the 5th too. If I had to give all the marginal rounds to Golovkin then I'd be scoring the fight 10-2 Golovkin because imho only the 2, 3rd rounds are safe for Saul.

I had the fight 7-5 GGG and am leaning towards 8-4 now.

If rounds are really close, I split them up alternately between the fighters. Seems fairer to me and does away with bias as far as it is possible.

I'm between 7-5 GGG and 6-6. No problems with the draw personally

One of the main things a judge has to look out for is hard and clean punches. To the untrained eye, it can appear as if a boxer is landing a lot of shots, when, in fact, most are being blocked or aren’t landing flush. A judge needs to look for hard shots that land clean. Canelo wins hands down in this aspect.

Also, they need to look out for EFFECTIVE aggression. The 'effective' word is very important, unless the boxer is landing shots and not constantly getting countered, it’s not exactly “effective.” So again, although GGG was the aggressor, it wasn't EFFECTIVE aggression.

Also, they need to judge the defense. How well is a boxer slipping, parrying, and blocking punches? Good defense is important.

Well i just cant do it. GGG wins after a 3rd viewing. This is my hand on heart honest unbiased opinion, i am a GGG fan but im a bigger fan of fairness in sport.

1 Canelo. Was super close but Canelo got the quicker start in and did enough to win it.
2 Canelo. Continued with plenty of great counter shots to most attacks.
3 GGG. Close round GGG just takes it
4 GGG. Same as the 3rd.
5 DRAWN. I dont like to score drawn rounds but i just could not split it.
6 GGG. I feel like the tide is turning in Golovkins favour, less coming back from Canelo
    7 GGG
8 GGG. In 7,8 and 9 GGG is starting to grind him down and get to him, Canelo on the run countering less and saving a bit of energy for those final rounds.
    9 GGG
10 GGG. Only just though very very close round. Considered calling it drawn but GGG edged it.
11 Canelo. Final flurry last 2 rounds.
    12 Canelo

116-113 win for Golovkin. Exactly how i scored it last time What a fight. Every round competitive and not particulary obvious to score. In defeat i was so very much imressed with Canelo.

Byrd, i think she missed half of Golovkins shots because they were short and not flash but they are sharp and effective and just as damaging as the big noisy eye catching shots Canelo was throwing. Also she was scoring anything big and noisy Canelo threw that the crowd cheered for no matter where they were landing. Must of been. I think she must just be a really bad judge.

I see your point exactly. Canelo seemed to have the cleaner punches while GGG was a little more active. It really depends on what the individual judge looks for. I like the draw because I didn't see either fighter dominate. Maybe GGG by a smidge. But again its the judges discretion. I like both fighters even by the way.

    I scored the bout 7-5 Canelo. I scored rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, and 12 for Canelo. I scored rounds 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 for GGG. Rounds 5, 6, 10, and 11 were toss up rounds.

I think most people agree that Canelo dominated early and GGG in the middle/late rounds. I think there is more disagreement in the early rounds. For example, I really praise Rumsfeld's video and breakdown, but I have to disagree with him scoring the 4th round for GGG. Even in his highlight video GGG is pressuring Canelo on the ropes, Canelo slipped nearly all his shots. In that round saw Canelo land several counters. For me it wasn't just that Canelo was landing big bombs, but landing in combos. For the most part I felt in the rounds GGG lost he was reduced to landing single punches, in the rounds he won he was landing combos and backing Canelo up.

In the toss up rounds I felt that both guys dominated portions of the rounds. People don't really talk about this, but we are trying to judge a 3 minute round with back and forth action. What if a fight dominates the first 30 seconds, gets dominated for the next minute and a half, and wins the last 30. We should count these as tied rounds, but realistically most judges/fans do not.

I am mystified how people gave Canelo 10 and 11 ! 10 they went flurry for flurry in the first minute then GGG did all the punching for the rest of the round! In 11 the first 30 seconds all Canelo did was complain he got hit with a kidney shot and looked exhausted. The he was outscored by about 25 punches. Did people even watch the rounds?

How any one gave rnd 4 to Canelo is shocking. Even blind and on the payroll Byrd had to give that rnd to GGG.

No Byrd didn't miss anything as nobody that inept, she'd been brought in to fill out such a card just like in the Floyd fight where one judge just gets it sooooo wrong.
