Could any middleweight in history stand toe to toe with GGG?

The thing of it is, Golovkin doesn't exactly have a toe-to-toe style. Golovkin himself primarily likes to box, and he's a very good boxer.

GGG would be in big trouble with Hagler. Who could take it all and come back and beat him up. I see GGG vs. Hagler like Sibson/Hagler. Where Marvin just works him over and breaks him down and stops him in about 6.

He sticks to his boxing, but when people lose that battle and try to go toe to toe, he sure can handle himself. :D

Canelo just did it in spurts so did Jacobs his power isn't as great as you GGG fans made it out to be.

Hagler doesn't have the power to knock out GGG. Not even this declining version.

Maybe Hagler, Golovkin is very underrated. I know you all gonna hate on me but that's what I think. He wasn't at his best and owned Canelo and beat him convincingly, him and Hagler going toe to toe would end up with one of them dying in the ring.

Oh, definitely! I didn't at all mean to suggest that Gennady isn't capable of standing toe-to-toe. He's quite good at that, and he has good instincts when it comes to turning that gear on and off. But on the whole, Golovkin prefers boxing, and he primarily uses his boxing skills, only entering that toe-to-toe gear when the situation dictates.

I'd watch Collins vs GGG as well. The SMW version of Collins.

Oh, yeah, I wasn't disagreeing. Was just saying when the occasion rises to go toe to toe. He's one bad mofo.

How is Bumlovkin a "very good boxer" when he can't fight off the back foot? He's at best a technically sound come forward brawler. Guys who fit the "very good boxer" mold have a functional defense and don't get touched up like Bumlovkin did last weekend. Bumlovkin's defense amounts to him blocking punches with his face. "Very good boxer"? LMAO..

If you notice both of those guys were retreating for the majority of both fights. They did for a reason.
But the one you can say is golovkin's hand speed is average at best. He had problems landing power shots on both those guys.

Hagler had 52 knockouts in 62 wins. More knockouts than GGG had fights. Are you kidding? He was a hard puncher. He would stop GGG.

The truth is somewhere in the middle. He is a good pressure fighter, but he is an okay inside fighter. Golovkin needs room to punch. He likes to dictate the distance with the jab and crack with full range with the right. I don't see that as the same thing as sticking and moving with the jab, and I don't see that as the same thing as fighting in close quarters and landing hooks to the body and head.
