Both up for me. Even though I think the scorecards are absolutely ridiculous and I thought GGG deserved the win, Canelo surprised me at how well he can move and be slick. I was expecting a flat footed plodder to be honest.

Also GGG. People used to say, "well, he's never been in there with an elite fighter so we can't know for sure how his chin is..."

But GGG does truly have an iron chin.

It would have been too long a poll (9 options) if I had added a "stayed the same" option, I did think about it.

And yeah, everyone, vote up or down even if it's only very slightly.

    I voted up for both:

    Canelo:
    -Footwork
    -Chin
-Heart to come back strongly in the championship rounds, he looked very likely to lose badly in rounds 8/9.

He had other strengths like his counter-punching and head movement, defense on the ropes, but I expected all that.

    GGG:

    - I thought he did just enough to win against a p4p opponent.
    - Chin. I knew he had a good chin but didn't expect him to shrug off that huge RH so easily.
    - Heart. This was a tough fight and Canelo made a good start, but GGG just kept coming and turned the fight around.

For my eyes they are both up or remains the same. I always thought it will be a tough close fight winning by GGG.
GGG himself said he's not a killer after the Jacob's fight so people overestimate him to just bulldoze everyone.
GGG lacks athletic ability but it is negated by his solid fundamentals and high IQ. That's why when pitted against highly skilled fast fighters, his jabs always paint the story, nobody escape no matter how slick they are.
Canelo confirmed he has great skills. It's plain to see from how he sets up the KO in the Kirkland and Khans fight and how he hang with Lara and negate Cotto's offense. But I seriously question his gas tank. He is more than holding his own in the early rounds and in spots when they are in the centre of the ring. But cannot sustain that kind of style, maybe ggg strength, pressure and chin has a little bit to do with that as well. He could have legitimately won.
All in all great fight, both play within their own strength and confirm their status as an elite fighters.

I am still not all that familiar with Canelo. Watched the Mayweather, Khan and Chavez Jr fights, along with the fight against Golovkin. I've seen most of the GGG fights.

    Canelo goes up.
GGG goes up. Just not as high as Canelo.

Canelos only fight at MW was an old Cotto prior... Jacobs, Lemieux, Murray and Macklin were world class Middleweights when Golovkin fought them.

Stevens, Ishida, Proksa, Geale, Rubio, Adama, Monroe Jr. etc. are extremely solid and it's very impressive how Golovkin dominated them.

"World class" is determined by consistency, eye test as well as resume. Golovkin proved he was world class by dominating loads of fringe contenders, contenders and titlists who had the balls to stop in with him. Only a fool would deny that Golovkin has been the victim of politics in his career. Canelo(for a long time), Cotto, Sturm, Quillin, Saunders among others refused to fight him.

You can't not be world class and be consistent for as long as Golovkin as. Only an extreme hater would say such a thing. He proved himself to be world class long before fishnets got the spine to throw Canelo in with him.

Canelo exceeded my expectations while Golovkin fell a tad short. No disrespect to Golovkin, he fought well.

Canelos chin went from good to proven great. Canelo also showed good stamina improvements.

Golovkins jab, much like Canelo's chin, went from being considered good to proven great at an elite level. Golovkins chin was also tested to an extent more than it had been up until this point.

If you let the masses form your opinion then you're going to end up disappointed every time. It's your own fault for being gullible. I knew this fight would be close and competitive and the chances of a stoppage on either side were slim.

Well I believed Canelo could win on points (I wasn't certain though), but when a sea of people on here scoff at you and tell you he is going to get destroyed everytime you voice that prediction, you start to lose just a tiny bit of confidence in that opinion. I think that is only natural. But all those people turned out to be wrong, so I certainly wont be making that mistake again.

The masses just don't watch as much boxing as the hardcore fans. Their opinions are going to differ and usually the masses will be wrong. However there is a flipside to it as well. There are plenty of people who understand this and still let the masses influence their opinion in the opposite direction. "Everyone thinks Golovkin is going to win so obviously Canelo will win." There are people on here who are guilty of both.

Canelo up, GGG-same. I had GGG eeking it out, but I could've seen a draw. I thought GGG would clearly beat Canelo.
