There's a lot of things that Golovkin can improve on.

He can, for example, throw more than 8 body punches. Take away Canelo's second wind, and slow him down.

He can step in closer when he's got Canelo on the ropes and let fly with a flurry of his own instead of taking his foot off the gas.

He can make sure he closes every round with more action, instead of letting Canelo retreat to safety.

He can start off at a faster pace and not have a weak first three rounds.

He can ensure that there are competent judges at ringside.

Canelo is the one that has problems; GGG has seen his entire barrel of tricks and there's nothing left for Ginger to improve on, other than his stamina.

I can see this happening. Only if Alvarez makes the necessary adjustments because if he fights like he did on Saturday, he won't be receiving another gift.

Enough with this notion that Canelo is improving. He hasn't improved that much, it's been the product of great match making. When you put him against someone who has no chin and someone who was a walking corpse there just to collect a paycheck you get Canelo the destroyer.

He was certainly not that against GGG. He was essentially forced to fight backing up against the ropes the entire fight and many of his flashy combinations did were blocked. Let's face it, he was lucky to get out of there with a draw, he clearly lost that fight.

Now he wants to wait nearly a year for a rematch. Why? So he faces a 36 year old version of GGG. I honestly see GGG being much more aggressive in a rematch and beating him by wide UD.

Be interesting to see what Canelo’s tactics will be after all the criticism from his own Mexican fans about backtracking and trying to counter off the ropes. Maybe he’s the one that will come forward and go for the ko?

I'm still waiting to see evidence of Canelo being a master boxer, GGG looked both the aggressor and the better boxer in the fight

In what way did GGG look the better boxer?
He was losing most exchanges, getting countered..

good point and i didn't think of that. i heard golden boy was pushing for an immediate rematch. canelo now knows he can pretty much (intelligently) take ggg's best shots so he might be willing to take it harder to him in the early rounds.

For starters only one of them has a jab worth talking about

Canelo is hardly a "master boxer". He's a very good one, but still has weaknesses in his stamina, slow feet, and relatively modest power. Unless Canelo lands an out-of-the-blue bodyshot that stops GGG, or GGG turns into a shot fighter, it'll be another tough fight for Canelo.

G is screwed. He gets KO'ed in the rematch. Canelo has nothing to fear.

GGG's tactical adjustments are easier. He has to press from the first round, showing Canelo less respect, and throw more combinations on the ropes, especially to the body. Canelo's problem is stamina, otherwise he would easily have the tools to beat Golovkin clearly because he is pretty hittable if you're quick. But that's harder to fix. It isn't a question of tactics for him, he already knows what punches to land and what Golovkin likes to throw.

Every single thing Canelo did offensivly in that fight Golovkin did aswell and in most cases did it better aswell as more of it. Only difference being there was alot less back swing on his shots and the crowd wasnt going Woooooooo and chearing. Adalaide Bryd must have better ears than she has eyes. Defensivly Canelo,s party piece is his work along the ropes and he does that better than Golovkin. But Golovkin uses great footwork in his stalking which i didnt see Canelo doing.

You sound like another one of these people that likes a bit of shiny shiny but cant see the real value in other things.

Au contraire. GGG has felt Canelo's power and there's nothing scary about it for a guy with a chin of his calibre. He will increase the pressure next time and Canelo will fold.

Canelo was wearing winning gloves and I agree, G will stubbornly apply pressure and more quickly because that's all he can do. He's not the more versatile fighter and when the rematch comes, you'll do a permanent ban bet with me correct?

    Jab: GGG
    Positioning/Footwork: GGG
    Aggression: GGG
    Ring Generalship: GGG
    Defense: Alvarez
    Backing up: Alvarez
    Fighting in Spurts/Countering/Furies: Alvarez
    Chin: Tie
Fought the entire 3 minutes of each round: Roughly 700 (GGG) punches thrown to 500 (Alvarez) punches thrown
Who's the master boxer in this case?
