Actually it wasn't the whole commentary team. Two of the three thought Calzaghe won, but they weren't sure.
I think Calzaghe lost ... but so did Hopkins.
It was a double loss, a lose-lose situation.

yeh his problem was that he was for the first time in his 2 decade career (his last fight, kinda embarrassing really) facing someone who -
    1. knew how to defend at elite level
    2. was experienced enough to be unfazed by southpaw stance
    3. wasnt going to be fake stopped by a cardiff ref after three harmless swings from joe.

So joe had no option but to keep flapping and hope it was enough to outgass the old guy. No plan B.

    He certainly flapped.
I can't take that away from him.
He flapped and he slapped at a million miles an hour.

Well the topic of her being an incompetent judge is being examined. In this particular fight, it appears that she had the card most closest to the consensus public view of the fight which was a close "could go either way" type of a fight.

Also I think we can conclude based on B Hop Calzaghe and Canelo Triple G that she has a preference to counter punchers fighting off the backfoot vs pressure come forward fighters.

This film must have been doctored.
Canelo's supporters have already informed us that Canelo landed the cleanest hardest punches of the fight. There's no way Golokin landed something like that. He just plodded forward with ineffective aggression.

More like impressive "skull" by Canelo. The punch hit Canelo behind the ear with his head turned. For Canelo to not be bothered by that punch at all shows how strong this dude's punch resistance is. I mean ask yourself how many fighters would receive that punch at that angle and proceed to go down holding the back of their head? Canelo wasn't even phased by it lol.

This was en extremely close fight because of that KD. Joe won but that KD almost cost him the W.
This fight was pretty similar to GGG-Canelo in some ways. Joe had Hopkins on the ropes for plenty of the fight but couldn't really find his range with Hops head movement, parrying and countering. If there is a rematch between Canelo and GGG he needs to watch that fight to learn about consistent countering, even if they are jabs.

Dodge, block, counter, cover up. Repeat. That was Hopkins during that fight.
Canelo was dodge, block, dodge, block, counter repeat.

It must have been a shock to realize it was actually Bernard "Executioner" Hopkins from Philadelphia, not Bernie "Clodhopper" Bumpkins from Mississippi.

Yeah that punch would've knocked down or at least hurt basically any other MW. Same with the big RH Canelo landed on Golovkin.
