Good riddance POS, with Beterbiev, Gvozdyk, Stevenson, Usyk all waiting in the wings, he knew that precious, precious 0 wouldn't last for long, you won't be missed, you dirty ****ing bore.
No opponent was found because they want to reproduce in the future. That robbery of Kovalev was worse than Canelo-GGG. It was like a mugging, with the commission, refs, judges everybody expecting him to illegal smack him in the nuts.
Yeah that's my suspicion too, Stevenson has had plenty of opportunity to fight good opposition if he wanted to. Almost everyone else has basically stepped up this year, whether or not it was their fault: Wilder signs to face Ortiz, Joshua faced Klitschko, GGG faced Jacobs and Canelo, Canelo faced Golovkin, Ward-Kovalev II got made, Thurman vs Garcia, Spence vs Brook, Jack vs De Gale, all the super flys, etc. etc. ... and what is Stevenson doing? A Fonfara rematch lol. Plenty of good opposition at 175 lb if he wanted it.
Sorry I have to disagree, I think Kovalev lost the second fight. It was stopped too early, yes, Weeks made a mistake, but the writing was on the wall for me. Even Kovalev now admits he lost that one.
To be honest, I can't say I'm surprised. I enjoyed his career and he took on the best contenders, happy retirement champ.
He'll probably be the new #1 in ESPN and the Ring, he was #2 already + they tend to favour public opinion (that GGG beat Canelo). I don't mind if people have Crawford or Lomachenko there instead personally, although none of the three have resumes the level of a traditional p4p #1.
Agreed. Watched it again the other day and Kovalev was ****ed. Ward was going to stop him at some point or was going to win on points.
