Not since Ward has anyone actually taken the division as their own. Im leaning towards DeGale as the leading 168lber at the moment if we go off resume and title defences..

    Who runs 168?

I thought Smith was the one to take over. But after that round when Skoglund was landing jab, after jab, after jab, after jab and there was nothing coming back, I feel like i might have overestimted Smith as a boxer, or Skoglund turns into a top 5 SMW himself.

Although DeGale is probably closest at this moment in time, I kind of see Groves taking it myself, if he can keep improving on that conditioning i think hes got all the tools. I rate Smith very highly but i think a real boxer combined with good footwork and a decent reach, certainly causes Smith alot of problems

Cej currently owns 168, no one at 68 can ever truly hang with him. The bjs scoring was as bad as g canelo and fmj canelo and too many others

Degale let his dominance slip away after his recent close, debatable wins. If Groves gets through the wbss as I suspect and looks great Degale will need a rematch more than Groves, and it will be huge. Zurdo may well beat anyone, I think he has the style to go on a good run against the current SMW. Not really an elite division but wide open, and some fun matchups.

Pretty open - and pretty thin - division at the moment.

Yes, unfortunately many top fighters aren't in it. After the WBSS, we will have:

    WBSS winner
    DeGale
    Ramirez
    Benavidez

... and any of those might come out top of the pile.

Personally I feel that Ramirez is the best 168 lb'er right now, but he's been so inactive lately and on resume it's surely DeGale.
