Or.. It's a bit of both. Being a boxer-puncher and reaching an age where your body starts to break down naturally is certainly a factor. 11 years as a pro, lengthy amateur career + being a 35 year old boxer puncher = decline not being far-fetched.
A slight decline yes but up until now his opposition has been **** poor and we really never knew how good he really was. Had he started fighting better fighters earlier in his career he wouldn't have been looking like he did against Wade and Monroe either.
Says who? Boxing is a sport where small margins can account for a lot. I think Golovkin of 3-4 years ago stops Jacobs and Canelo, as for the mixed-opposition - Yeah and that's no fault of his own. Quillin, Sturm, Saunders, Cotto, Canelo and others wanted nothing to do with him for a long time.
Ward wanted a piece of him back in the day so did Lara. Years ago Canelo said come to a catchweight and we can fight to but he refused. He has no one to blame but himself. His legacy will suffer because of it.
Ward is not a MW. Full stop. - Catchweight is not MW, Golovkin is a MW - he's not obligated to partake in any catchweight shenanigans. You are biased against the guy and looking discredit and **** talk him any chance you get. FACT - He was avoided by the top fighters of his division for years. Not vice-versa.
But you said "anyone" could look great against Monroe Jr. doe... Now it turns out that not anyone can look great against him after all. Btw. if BJS is trash what does that make Eubank Jr who lost to him. Yet according to some spastics on this board Golovkin ducked Eubank Jr because he was afraid of him lol If Lara was serious about fighting GGG he would move up to 160, fight the #1 contender at the WBA and he will become Golovkin's mandatory. Just like Charlo did but for the WBC title. Charlo seems to be serious about fighting Golovkin... Lara not so much, he (more like his translator) just runs his mouth on twitter.
I wasn't aware that Froch and JCC Jr were middleweights??? The fact is GGG was willing to fight both Froch and JCC at 168. But rather face a death than to fight Ward at 168. He also was willing to go to 154 for PBF but not 155 for Canelo. He also made Brook a career WW fight him at 160 but refused to go up and dare to be great. He wants his cake and eat it to and it doesn't work like that.
I don't care about any of these fantasy fights that were peeped about but never went through. All that matters is Middleweight, the division he's rated and holds titles at. He never ducked anyone there - rather he was ducked. No one forced Brook to take that fight, he did and Golovkin jumped on because of the money it brought. Not like there were a whole lot of other options for him at the time considering the other belt holders and top contenders ducking him, but it was a **** fight as I said from the very moment it was announced.
BJS is trash I like his trash talk but he's not a fighter of note. CEJ has moved up to 168 if they fought now CEJ would kill him. Yeah Monreo Jr is a C class fighter who has he ever beat to warrant anything? If GGG was serious about fighting Ward then he would move up to 168, fight the a tune up and the fight would have been made. Do you see how that works
BJS is not trash. He's a top notch MW despite his flaws and lack of spine. Do you ever get bored of posting biased one sided drivel?
He's lost some speed and fluidity for one and his ability to pull the trigger like he used to isn't what it was. He's had almost 400 fights amateur and pro for goodness sake, fighting with a very aggressive style. He's been boxing for what is it like 25 years and training even longer. Sanchez said he spars bigger guys most of the time too. That's a lot of wear and tear. ''But he get hit. He get hit a lot'' OK so he gets hit a lot but all those punches he took in nearly 400 fights amateur and pro didn't put no mileage on the clock or take nothing out of him? lol
