I interpreted it as I'll be on suicide watch because I won't ever get to see him get beat. Seeing him get beat isn't that big a deal to me believe it or not. In fact, I never realistically expected to do so given his deck stacking ways and his refusal to fight fair or on a playing field that wasn't always rigged in his favour. He's been honing and perfecting that ugly cheating style of his for a very long time and I'm astute enough to understand it was always going to be extremely difficult for anyone at 168-175 to get the victory over him as long as the playing field was so uneven.

And FTR, I've always thought he was a very talented fighter and I even enjoyed watching some of his fights from early on in career. There was never any need for all that deck stacking and cheating.

And besides, Kovalev beat him in their first fight even though everything was stacked against him :)

Virgil Hunter's going to be in trouble. He's lost his golden egg, who will make him look like a good coach now?

So do I. Like I said, he's extremely calculating. 175 is packed with too many killers right now and CW is too. He's going up to HW to fight AJ?? lol. I'll think he'll bide his time until the dust settles and a more winnable fight against a weaker CW or HW comes up and he can grab their belt.

I found the whole Joshua story embarrassing.

I think that was Hunter though.

I'd have loved to have seen him fight Bellew.

I can't stand Bellew but I would've been on Team Gobby Scouser for that one if it came off for sure lol

    Speaking of Ward's creepy godfather

    Ha!

My mate who works for Matchroom swears blind that Tony is a great guy.

I told him that I didn't like him in the build up to the Cleverly rematch.

He assured me that it's all show for the cameras.

He's transported him to many pressers and weigh-ins etc, even driving him down to London. He's spent a fair bit of time with him over the past 3/4 years.

OK thanks for sharing. The one thing I do like about him is he's magnanimous in victory towards his beaten foe (during the post-fight interviews). Seems like he genuinely feels sorry for them. I'd be like that if I was a fighter. I'd be very respectful and give them praise, genuinely respect and praise not the fake stuff for the cameras. Unless they were a truly horrible person that is.

    That said.

A gift decision over Kovalev and a "let him hit him in the balls" stoppage in the rematch to end his career.
Hardly seems like a great way to ride into the sunset. LOL!

I've posted many times about Ward over the years from an interview in 2009 when he said he wanted to retire young, on top, and with people asking him "why?" So, not too surprising. Hit all three checks. We shouldn't be surprised, either, considering the very slow and in lame-man's terms diva-like career between the Froch fight and the first Kovalev fight.

How often does has someone considered the "Pound for Pound King" retired? Because it has happened a couple times very recently.
