Does Morrison have a chance of an upset?

Joe was usually a slow starter and that could cost him against a fast starting explosive knockout puncher.

Not really getting the "Joe Louis slow starter" bit. Ever seen the 2nd Schmeling fight?

Was he not known for taking a nap before the fight?
He was sleeping the first few rounds with galento.

2nd Schmelling fight had special circumstances.

Morrison is a dangerous match up for Louis... Joe never saw something like that

He also knocked out Mauriello, Levinsky, Lewis, Retzlaff, and Mann in one round. Thats 6 total first round KOs of rated contenders.

Galento is the outliner, and he had the durability to sustain huge punishment. Some of the jabs he got popped with might have rocked the duke.

I think that was Marciano and/or Wilfred Benitez that you're thinking of.

Morrison wasn't that good. I think you'll find that the moments Morrison looked incredible, were against poor quality opposition for the era. I mean, against every good rated fighter of his era he always came up short.

What he actually did in his career gives me absolutely zero confidence in him against Joe Louis.

Check it: This guy drew with Ross Purrity in Purrity's 17th pro fight, his record was 8-8 up until the Morrison fight, which he took on 10 days notice dropping Tommy twice. If that happened to Joe Louis he would get crucified on here. Stopped in the first round against Michael Bentt (I know, I know, he didn't train right blah blah blah). Nearly blasted out by 31 yr old Ruddock who had been in wars with Tyson and stopped in the 2nd by Lewis. His stamina frequently failed him and he was very susceptible to counterpunches.

I could see him putting up a struggle like Tami Mauriello did but Louis would overcome him very fast.

Morrison is a real threat to Louis.

I have always thought Morrison had the tools, size, speed and power to KO Louis . I am not saying Morrison is an ATG like Louis but I see Morrison surprising Joe and possibly getting the KO early. Its 50/50 for me.

ANY rematch and Louis wins no doubt.

Is this Tommy with the juice or without?

    Really doesn't matter, I suppose.

Fair point about juice, juiced version is obviously far more dangerous for Louis though

Morrison had a chance against one. Louis chins him 8/10 though.

I would look similar to GGG vs Lemieux.

Morrison has a chance of feeling very upset, after Louis annihilates him!

Morrison wins this just about every time. Morrison would have to be overlooking louis and maybe he would being louis was not over 200 pounds in his prime, and thats louis's only chance here.
