    Lew Jenkins - Lou Ambers I & II
    Jake LaMotta - Laurent Dauthille II
    Rocky Graziano -Tony Janiro III
    Rocky Graziano - Red Cochrane I
    Rocky Graziano - Charley Fusari

    Those last three - Graziano was behind on points and pulled out a last round stoppage as did LaMotta in his second fight with Dauthuille.

    Froch had started taking more or less taking control midway through and consistently landing that right hand. Taylor should not have been ahead by 4 points going into the last round.

    Taylor is a strange fighter to gauge. I remember watching him box and looking at the way he did so many things wrong, his footwork, the way he left himself open and telegraphed that bow-and-arrow right hand. I remember thinking that someone so flawed would get slowly picked apart by Hopkins. But then he has two razor thin bouts with Hopkins and another very close bout with Winky (on my card).

    It was weird to see.

    Good post, and you're right- it's trickier to find fights that meet that criteria...Adamek-Cunningham may qualify for that; I know of some who had Steve winning the majority of the non-KD rounds.

    In the lower weights, 105-147, the faster and better boxers wins almost all of the time. 90% of the time.

    From 154-168, the puncher's chance goes up a bit.

    Fron 175-to heavyweight, the game changes.

    Key to the punchers chances vs the boxer are the following.

    1 ) The durability of the boxer. If he has a top chin, the puncher could be in for a long night.
    2 ) The height and reach disaparity
    3 ) The style of the puncher, he needs to be a forward moving type
    4 ) The energy and ages of the boxers
    5 ) The size of the ring, the smaller it is the better for the boxer
    6 ) the heart of the boxer, if its not great, the pressure can make him fold.
    7 ) The footspeed of the puncher, if he's got quick feet his chance got way up.

    Some examples where the puncher beat the boxer:

    Pryor vs. Arguello
    JC Chavez vs M Taylor
    Tua vs Ruiz

    However if we are talking about a boxer-puncher ( A fighter who can do both ) it changes things. A pure puncher to me is one with a lot of power, but average type of skills.
