Another cherry pick from Deontay. Cuban Ortiz has just been confirmed to be 48 years old. Even though its still his most dangerous opponet he's going to fight LMAO.
The 48 year old is going to do a Foreman on his lacklustre boxing skills arse and TKO him in around 8 rounds.
Ortiz is nowhere near that old.... If he shows up with the form he had against Allen and Scott 10-12 months ago this will be a good fight and probably end in his favor. Really doubt he's gone old overnight, and if he has there's no way Wilder or his handlers would know such a thing. This is definitely a risk on their part - for once the guy shouldn't be bashed and deserves credit. Come on. I'm no fan of the guy lol.
Cut the crap, this isn't a fight to be bashed. I've been very outspoken in my criticisms of Wilder and his opposition but this is a glaring exception. He could have fought an easy as pie mandatory, he could have taken a payday to fight Whyte, instead he's fighting a heavily avoided boogieman. There's a good chance Ortiz isn't as good as a lot of people think, there's a good chance he's older than officially recorded but neither of those possibilities change the fact that he's a top five heavyweight right now with KO power and arguably the slickest skillset in the division. This is one of the rare instances that Wilder deserved credit. This fight is really separating the rational critics from the irrational haters.
I criticize Wilder on here all the time because he and his team deserve it. However, this is a fight against a top 10 opponent regardless of how old Ortiz may or may not be, so it's a respectable match up. The division just lost Wlad and Fury is mia, maybe for good. Add in that Wilder won't face Povetkin and Joshua is tied up, this is probably the best opponent available. Ortiz did defeat Thompson, Jennings and Scott. Not world beaters but good enough that he is by far Wilder's most credible opponent even if he's past prime by a few years.
Idc if Luis is 65 because he's a mean mother****er. The fragile mandible of Tuscaloosa Alabama is in real jeopardy and that's the thing that matters.
