According to sources with knowledge of the situation reporting exclusively to FightN*****.com, Canelo suffered an injury to his right hand during training camp for Golovkin.

Alvarez fought Golovkin with Winning gloves instead of his usual Everlast MX. Winning gloves are more padded with foam for extra hand protection, and is recognized as one of the best training gloves on the market, which raised some eyebrows.

This is not the first time that the former two-division world champion has injured his hand. Following a ninth-round knockout to claim the WBO junior middleweight world title in 2016, it was revealed that Canelo fractured his right thumb.

Now this makes sense as Canelo was wearing the winning gloves, which are known as gloves with extra padding. If this is the case, then GGG had an advantage. Canelo busted his hand in the Smith fight, and it seems this injury keeps coming back.

    Interesting stuff

I heard that Oscar's judges were going to deliver a screwy verdict. And they did!

I didn't notice any moments during the fight where Alvarez seemed bothered by his hand. Further he seemingly used the right quite a bit.

I might keep an extra eye on it when I re-watch the bout, but it seems more like a precautionary measure than a way to deal with an existing significant injury. But who knows.

those gloves dont protect the hand really. Its a diff foam and fit but its not for an injured hand or something. I used to prefer to wear the old casanovas. When they went cheap and changed their material i went to winning. My glove of choice now.

old school casanovas were the best. Chicanito gave me a pair and told me.......if you walk into any gym with these be prepared to **** some nigguhs up. Trainers see you have casanovas and they know the deal.

Maybe he should have fought Golovkin earlier then instead of waiting for him to get old, i guess it backfired. serves him right

those sources seem shady though, and what exactly is a right hand injury? It could be anything from some pain to a fracture. its not uncommon for boxers hands to hurt.

yes i remember, a fracture on his thumb. i always wondered if he would recover or not, they made it seem it was no big deal. probably to keep his image good.

He didn’t look like he had an injured hand during the early stages of the fight as he didn’t look like he was pulling his punches but towards the end of the bout he looked like he could have had both hands damaged after futilely trying to put a dent in Golovkin’s granite Chin.
