This content is protected Floyd Patterson often gets knocked, especially in comparison to modern day super heavies. Mainly because of his size or lack thereof. But pound for pound, he was one of the best of all time. At about 190 pounds he had great speed, great punching power and great skill. Patterson could hypothetically beat any 175-200 pounder we've seen so far. And truth be told, he could have success against some modern day heavies. Patterson could conceivably outbox say Berbick, Briggs, Botha or say Morrison, despite the size difference. What are your opinions on Patterson?
Patterson is an outstanding example of a fighter who did not match the available weight classes. Patterson was ranked in the top ten of the heavyweight division, for more years than any other fighter in history. Now if some sort of cruiserweight division had existed over the span his career, he could have built an unassailable resume in that division.
Same with me. Wonderful list of accomplishments from winning Olympic gold at 17 to remaining at the top for 20 years. The template for boxers, as to how to conduct themselves.
