PEDs and strength training have made boxers bigger, stronger, and faster. If Joe Louis trained the same way as Tommy Morrison, he might be unstoppable, we'll never know, but to put the Joe Louis of that video in a ring with one of the modern fighters...it wouldn't end well for Joe . A poster on this board mentioned that he saw a video of Evander Holyfield watching Joe Louis train/fight and Holyfield was giggling. Another poster mentioned that he watched a video of Marciano watching Fitzsimmons and somebody fighting and Marciano was laughing at them. It's funny that some see the difference and others do not.
And morrison never saw a guy heavyweight champion for 11 years and 25 title defense Joe saw it all.Joe fuk up morrison
If Louis ( and remeber we are doing IF's here) he would be about 6'3 225. This doesnt give himan automatic win bc hes bigger, the hard reality is 200 pound louis vs the Morrison we knew would be severly out matched and we all know this. you cant do what ifs because Louis in the modern age would still be up against what yor first sentance states. Louis would be unstoppable by what measures? Bigger gloves and more athletic guys had surfaced by far than what he saw.Unless you consider Louis flawless( i dont,he had major holes) than he would also have to fight much different than he did in the 40's. im not doing what ifs, because then its fantasyland by putting a fighter to what you want at your leisure. Tommy Morrisons speed/power and overall style would prove nightmarish for Louis. Its such a mismatch against one of the hardest punchers of all time im not even going to break this down bc its FAR fetched to give louis the win here when i could just use HIS fights to show why and at their BEST Louis would be in major trouble here. Morrison is HIGHLY underatted bc of a few losses, but he was well schooled and even if not on point would be as dangerous for Louis as anyone he could have and never faced.
Actually Joe Louis is the problem for Morrison not Morrison for Louis. Morrison had problems with guys who were good counterpunchers, had fast hands, had punching power, and most importantly had a ring iq as high as Louis'. Louis may not weigh as much as Morrison but he would look bigger in the ring (that seems to be how you judge who wins a fight). This content is protected In this fight Morrison gets mauled by a guy who was 10-1 (only 5 ko wins and 1 ko loss)...Need I say more? This content is protected Here he is again against an over the hill Razor Ruddock. Morrison was prime and went life and death with a shadow of his former self Ruddock. No doubt prime Ruddock would have steamrolled him had they met in the ring. This content is protected Morrison had his big chance against Lewis but blew it. He got utterly outclassed every round(dropped 4 times). The fight wasn't even close and yet you claim Morrison was a top contender of the era. Lewis connected on something like over HALF of his punches. Joe Louis was more accurate than Lennox Lewis was and it would be easier for Louis to hit Morrison than it was for him to hit the heavy bag... Oh and don't forget Ross Purrity. The guy was 8-8 and took Morrison to a draw scoring 2 knockdowns in the process. Give up yet?
If Old Foreman had enough strength to force Morrison to fight like Billy Conn, he wouldn't be too big or whatever for Louis. Not saying Louis would force him to fight the same, but he isn't too big or powerful for Joe to KO. Show me one other fighter his size who can pulverize a 6'6 250lb giant with a short overhand right. Not just sting them, but shake their entire core, make them do 360 spins. Think about this. Louis was playing the Golovkin role against strong SHWs. Lifting them up, overpowering them, imposing his will, stalking and outboxing the big guys with otherworldly power. He never seemed to note that bigger guys were the toughest. I think he would've been just dandy fighting these large targets with big bodies and big heads. And let's not pretend like he couldn't bulk up to at least 230lb no problem IF he deemed its necessary. Here is Joe Louis at 218lb. http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/n...rden-joe-louis-weighs-212-picture-id515962216 He still looks like a strong twig compared to todays guys. He could be 230lb easy and fight just great. Joe Louis that night was bigger than 16 versions of Deontay Wilder and he still looks underweight by contemporary standards. This is reality. Not the comic book version of size.
I actually see this this fight as a replay of morrison V Bentt or Louis V mauriello. Morrison coming out fast, catching Joe quick and shaking him up. Morrison then goes punch crazy throwing everything at Louis, but Joe twists and turns laying on the ropes. Suddenly Joe throws a short right that Tommy catches clean on his jaw. We know how powerful and destructive those well placed punches of Louis s could be. Morrison would hit the floor. He maybe rises but he's in the street of dreams. Louis KO 1
Based on what? What evidence to you have from a fight that actually happened, that this would be fight ending power against Louis?
You mean a dangerous fight for tommy If a no body like m bennett khtfo I hate to see what Joe Louis will do to him
if a useless fat bum like galento can knock louis down with a left hook, i hato to see what would Morrison do to him with his powerful explosive left hook
