Mayweather vs. McGregor ended up helping this PPV, just as I thought it would have. Everybody was scared that people who were going to buy Canelo/Golovkin would then spend the money on May/McG and all of a sudden decide NOT to buy Canelo/Golovkin. That was never going to happen. All that could happen was people who bought May/McG who were NOT going to buy Canelo/Golovkin became interested in throwing another house party 3 weeks later.

Everytime mass media outlets brought up Canelo/Golovkin, they directly mentioned Mayweather/McGregor in some capacity.

Ggg still ain't a draw. If he can't get 300k or over at least in ppv fights not name canelo? He ain't a draw. I bet Ggg ppv buy rates would be under 200k if he fought other mw fighters not name canelo. Hopkins is a perfect example of not being a draw cause he and Oscar fighting together did a million buys but facing fighters like wright? It barely did 300k lol. Wright fought mosley, trinidad.

Thats a lot of money in GGG's pocket. I am still waiting for Triple G to send me a percentage of that check to me from all that promotion and support I provide him on ESB and elsewhere. I wonder if guys like Isal, chicano, Kush get their percentage of Canelo's purse via cash or check and at what day of the month?

    Hopkins had some solid results:
Bernard Hopkins vs. Felix Trinidad 475,000 Buys - 2001
Bernard Hopkins vs Oscar De La Hoya - 1,000,000 Buys - 2004
Bernard Hopkins vs. Jermain Taylor I 370,000 Buys - 2005
Bernard Hopkins vs. Jermain Taylor II 410,000 Buys - 2005
Bernard Hopkins vs. Antonio Tarver 330,000 Buys - 2006
Bernard Hopkins vs. Winky Wright 305,000 Buys - 2007
Bernard Hopkins vs Roy Jones Jr II - 150,000 - 2010
Bernard Hopkins vs Chad Dawson 40,000 Buys - 2012
    And a few complete flops.
I still dont get how the Dawson fight only did 40k. That had to be some real bad promotion.

I watched all of those fights live, and I could very well be wrong - but I definitely don't remember buying any of those.

2 million is ridiculous especially considering how dead PPV has been since Floyd killed it.

There was no way this fight was not surpassing the 1.5 million mark.

If true i said it all along. Canelo can be called the A side but to make these numbers it needed both of them, otherwise Canelo would be doing these numbers every fight. Anybody who thought this was all down to Canelo and thought that GGG should of accepted those lowball offers from Oscar in the 1st place must not realise that outside of America is more than just sea and fishes, there are other countries with other Boxing fans in it and most of us prefer GGG to Canelo.

Infact i found my friends who arnt really into Boxing but like it enough to buy these big PPV fights all had heard of this GGG but not so much Canelo or Saul Alverez.

There would not have been a fight if Golovkin had not push it, all El Pollo did was run, try to rest on rope, but got hit when he did, hell, he could not rest. Why did Alvarez' fans boo him and cheer Golovkin? Why did they boo Alvarez when he fake fought Chavez, Jr., why didn't he know out Chavez? Chavez did not even bother to fight back all he did stand there and take punches. The fans booed Alvarez because they knew it was a fraud, a fixed fight...............

People wanted to see GGG against Canelo was what it was... it was the biggest fight since Floyd-Pac.. Had GGG fought someone else he'd barely break 150k.
