From what I've heard I believe neither guy showed themselves to be any good, don't like hating on pro boxers but we've just said goodbye and perhaps good riddance to Andre Ward another guy who would quite happily take the publics money and give em nothing in return, not seen the fight but I heard that the Fureys need to understand that boxing is an entertainment and the sole reason guys like AJ sell out is because they can actually back it up in the ring. I could say the same re Wilder but he hasn't as yet become a big star but again he's never boring. I never make predictions on boxing save Broner v Garcia which I was spot on with. In hindsight I guess this result albeit a bit wide was highly predictable.
Parker was disappointing because most knew Fury would have this game plan and whatever Parker did in camp and whatever his own game plan was it didn't really work. But you can't really go in hard on Parker in my opinion, sometimes it's hard to look good against a fighter who is that negative. Parker did try and make it a fight, he did try and press and sure you can criticise Parker not closing the gap quickly enough or cutting off the ring but Fury spoiled and let's be honest, he ran. Fury was seriously disappointing, he gets a world title shot in Manchester and personally I don't think he gave it a real go, he seemed more intent on surviving than winning.
Parker seemed slow and cumbersome. Definitely had a bit too much weight(maybe to nullify the Fury clinch game?) Can't help but feel that if he came in at 225-230 he'd have had an easier night. a wins a win though I suppose.
I agree, Parker plodded his way through that fight, and yes the Win was the most important thing, keeps alive a potential Joshua payday and unification fight.
For some strange reason, he was 245 lbs in all 3 of his title fights. He looked much sharper when he was around 235.
That I think they'll gun for that next year. WBO has a pretty weak top 15 - Hammer and Schwarz being in the top 3! He should have one more fight in November or December before the years end.
Haha. How's he going to afford that habit now Hughie 'The Meerkat' Fury has let him down with the most risk averse title fight attempt in living memory?
Pretty unforgivable then cause had he said I'm gonna outbox this Parker for twelve rounds then fair play but he actually did the Canelo thing and said he's getting knocked out in four am I right? Hate that as it shows how false they are and that they clearly don't give a damn about folk paying out on YouTube on what should never have been a PPV fight anyway. Re these false guys who talk of knockouts and then run n hide for twelve rounds I find it amazing how you get folk calling out Golovkin for not getting the KO when this guy for twelve rounds was coming forward the entire time and would of loved his opponent in Canelo to go to war as it were, like you say even the biggest punchers in the sport and Parker does some power are gonna find it hard against guys who are back-pedalling all night.
Hughie is going to have to do this with cows instead of sheep to pay him back This content is protected
