I bumped this for Ilikeboxing because his post is an obvious race bait and my rebuttal was over a ****ing year ago. GGG needs to move up and be a man.

He is spot on but its nothing we all havent heard already. Thing is this though Hagler was still a beast and yeah he lost ot Leonard but he was also in decline already. It really sucks that Hagler didnt have some big fights in his prime but hes still a great. He just was at the wrong weight at the wrong time.

The smear campaign on GGG is darn pervasive.

Hagler is great, but he ain't that great.
He ranks above GGG though and a little better boxer.

Mugabi or Hamsho in modern times would have been great names with a belt & the invincibility aura..He came & made Mugabi & Hamsho pay for all their sins in this life & the life before...

Its unlucky for GGG that he didn't exist in era of big Welters (Tito, DLH & Quartey) all had big ego, size & power to come challenge GGG

At the days of GGG, Welter was dominated by blownup lightweights that barely pass as Welter & can't move to 160

Canelo was outboxed by tiny Floyd
Jacobs was broken in by Priog

Mugabi was 25-0-0-0 (KO 25) power puncher in his prime, in the age of 4 belts he could have one of them & regarded as #1 160 by casuals, due to his power alone.

Its not GGG fault, he just came in this era. He should keep racking title defenses vs anyone willing to catch an L & distinguish himself as the Joe Louis of Middleweight. He still has 1-2 years left at near his prime

Spot on mate, people are too nostalgic, just like with Video games, people saying that the games from 1995 were the greatest ever but in truth if you were to give someone in 1995 a game from 2017, they would just ridicule the quality of the game from 1995. Same applies for boxing and any other sport. An ATG from 1970 would stand no chance against modern p4p best. Klitschko would beat Ali, GGG would beat Hagler, Sugar Ray would get whopped by Pacquiao or Mayweather

Ali without Frazier, Foreman, and Liston isn't the Greatest either.

This reasoning applies to pretty much everyone. Take away their 3 greatest opponents and they are not that special anymore.

    Slow down there...

    * Wlad Klitschko can Beat Ali, with size, Ali will float like a butterfly, sting like a bee & fall like a Chris Byrd
    * Nothing telling us that GGG can beat Hagler, can GGG run away for 15 rds? cause that is the only way Hagler lost
    * SRR or SRL Welter versions, would badly beat Floyd (130) or Pacman (106 HGH), on size alone...

They can't... your profile pic tells me you're a nostalgic individual. Don't lie to yourself, it's like saying Carl Lewis can beat Usain Bolt. Carl was the world record holder, best sprinter in the world in 1970s, but he would stand no chance against Bolt, becuase Athletes improve, they get better, fitter, quicker, fighting spirit depends on the individual but back in the day boxing was only popular in the US, so there was a smaller pool of fighters to pick from, now it is worldwide, so there are 5x as many fighters as there were in 1970-1980s, so there is a 5x bigger pool to pick from, so 5x more likely to find good fighters who can be enchanced by the improved methods nowadays. tech improved, preparation imprved, knowledge of human body improved, training methods improved, nutrition, biomechanics... stop lying to yourself.
