Jury is still out on the actual numbers but anyone with half a brain, and no hate in their hearts could tell you this fight would crack the 1.5 mill buys.
You do realize that those numbers are insane. Kinda like May-Pac doing 4.6. People expected high numbers but damn. Cotto-Alvarez couldn't crack 1mil. Just think about it.
That's pretty damn good, especially for not having the names Mayweather, Pacquiao, or Cotto in there.
Expectations of less than a mill were valid This fight just blew expectations out of the window. I don't think anyone really expected these numbers, especially post MayMac 2 mill is a ridiculous number, to put it in perspective people say the UFC is taking over boxing in the USA but the UFC had never come close to 2mill. Hate it or love it #CaneloGGG has put boxing back on the map post Mayweather
I would argue they are now both PPV stars, it takes 2 to tango. GGG will never sell less than 250k again IMO, he is now a bona-fide star
This content is protected Canelo has surpassed Pacquiao as the second highest PPV attraction over the last 4 years(since Canelo had his first PPV fight), only Floyd is above him. I hope GGG's PPV status picks up momentum from here on.
I thought it'd do a bout a million, if it did that much, Awesome. I consider that a win for the sport as a whole.
2 M >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>160,000 & 125,000 1 fight = 2 M PPV buys 2 fights = 285,000 PPV buys 1 fight sold over 7 x the number of PPV buys 2 fights did lol This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
Who's word? I don't doubt that the fight had the potential to do those numbers but there must be an article where people can read for themselves on the speculation of the numbers.
Glaser always has a low number, he said Canelo-Khan was only 300-350k, Canelo-JCC Jr was only 700-750k according to him, etc. Personally I think the mainstream media or the ESPN/HBO official number is more accurate, we saw the tax files proving that they were correct for the Canelo-Khan fight anyway.
