It appears that many rate Gans, Duran and Benny Leonard as the top three ATG lightweights. (I personally have them in that order, but am happy to see them placed in any order). How would you have the next three? Or do you disagree entirely? Myself, I have: 4. Armstrong, 5. Ike Williams, 6. Whitaker. (Shouts out to Canzoneri, Ross, Pryor, Arguello, Chavez, Mayweather, etc). Always happy to see Mosley rated so highly. If the money had been in that division, and he had stayed there, I would place him higher than I do. Do you think a peak LW Mosley handles a peak LW Mayweather, then?
How many fights did Pryor have at lightweight because I usually see his former opponent Arguello rated above him on all time lists even though he beat him at light welter?
Amen! Ortiz is a consensus top 5 lightweight. In fact, since the 60s, only Duran has a better lightweight resume than Ortiz. Ortiz ranks ahead of Chavez.
I think Ortiz's resume at lightweight is superior to Duran's, X. Laguna x2, Elorde, Brown, Locche, Rosi, Lane, Ramos x2, Bizzarro, Charnley Tec. I think that beats Buchanan, DeJesus x2, Thompson, Robertson, Fernandez, Lampkin, Lou Bizzarro, Ishimatsu, Viruet and such. Ortiz's record at the weight is arguably the best since Leonard imo. Definitely the best of the last 50 years.
