Are you being serious? The BT deal has been a massive success. Most fans and people within the game acknowledge this.
How is it "obvious" that Matthew Macklin (MTK) wanted Carl to go with Warren? What makes you say that? Macklin appears regularly on SKY. As does Jamie Moore. A Moore-Macklin-Hearn partnership would work a lot smoother and better IMO than a Moore-Macklin-Warren one. BTW Frank completely FLOPPED in Ireland when he tried - feebly - to promote Andy Lee v BJS in Limerick a few years ago.. Warren has minimal involvement in Irish boxing. Hearn is well connected here. Hearn is surging ahead with one of Irelands top boxers Burnett. Your reasoning for Carl going with Warren is crazy.
Lee/ Saunders 'flopped' due to overestimating the demand and BoxNation being an obscure channel. Frank is selling a lot more tickets recently. Frank has done many more shows in Ireland recently and has more irish fighters on his books
Macklin would of wanted to get his fighter to get the best deal possible. He wouldn't of sent Frampton to Warren because of some relationship with Warren. That's not a managers job. His job is to get the best deal possible for his client.
It was Andy Lee and Booth who took the lead on the limerick thing - I doubt Frank even wanted it to go on other there in the first place which is why he quickly pulled the plug and shifted in over here when Lee couldn't get the tickets moving. You are ignoring the Irish cards involving Jaime Conlan and co which have all been successful. I think you will find out tomorrow why M It was Andy Lee and Booth who took the lead on the limerick thing - I doubt Frank even wanted it to go on over there in the first place which is why he quickly pulled the plug and shifted it over here when Lee couldn't get the tickets moving. You are ignoring the Irish cards involving Jaime Conlan and co which have all been successful and the fact that BT are now on board. I think you will find out tomorrow why MTK have steered this towards warren.
No the Lee/Saunders stadium fight flopped because of Lee's delusion that he could sell out a stadium, especially against BJS. Lee - great guy, solid fighter, great analyst. Stadium fighter? Never in a million years. Ever since Froch/Groves every single decent boxer in the UK thinks they can sell out a stadium. Degale thinking he can sell out Emirates. Against Groves in a unification maybe. You need ideal circumstances and the ideal opponent to do it. The whole Limerick stadium fight was a total embarrassment they sold literally **** all tickets.
If true then the head of BT sport hasn't got a clue what he is doing when it comes to negotiation of contracts. He seriously needs to get on Frank's back and start demanding that he delivers big fights. That last show was one of the worst you will ever see.
In fairness they are probably looking at this as a 3 year turn around plan not one year. This year was probably a bedding in process, improving production quality (which has improved no end) etc... They probably knew they weren't going to just blitz the market, take some of matchrooms big names and be a major player again in a year... Fighters will slowly gain confidence that Warren and BT can deliver them what they want and be a solid alternative to Matchroom.
Frank announcing a fight without an opponent again, expecting people to buy tickets. Treating the public like mugs.
Yeah 100%. They have probably been waiting for an opportunity for get someone like Frampton which is why they have probably pulled out all the stops to get him. BJS, Liam Smith etc just arnt going to cut it. Yarde and Dubois have potential but they are just potential at this stage. Like you said if they can deliver for Frampton and kick on from here, other fighters will have more confidence in making the change. I like what matchrooms done and a fan of eddie hearn and there shows but they have had it easy in terms of competition.
BT have actually played a indirect role in the rejuvenation of British Boxing. The main reason why sky started to pump money again and bring back ppv in 2013 for Froch v Kessler was because,as Warren stated, that a couple of months before BT had come into buying sports rights and sky were scared that they would come into boxing.Look at how sky ditched boxing back in 2011 mainly because of Haye but suddenly rejuvenated their intrest in 2013,dont believe it when Hearn states that Sky have always been a backer of boxing since day one,its bull.
