Both viewed as having KO power, but who hits harder?

    Wilder recent fights;

Washington TKO5 - 1KD followed by ref stoppage. Also stopped by Miller (corner stoppage)
Szpilka KO9 - 1KD for the KO. KO'd by Jennings and later Kownacki
Arreola TKO8 - 1KD, stopped by corner. Stopped by Vitali (corner stoppage) and TKO'd by Stiverne (ref stoppage)
Molina KO9 - 4KD including the KO. Also KO'd by Arreola, TKO'd by Joshua (ref stoppage) and KO'd by Ashanti Jordan.
Stiverne UD. No KD's. Stopped by King (ref stoppage) and dropped by Rossy.
Duhaupus TKO11 - No KDs, ref stoppage. Later KO'd by Povetkin.

    Ortiz recent fights:

Allen TKO7 - No KD's. Never been stopped or dropped previously.
Scott UD - 3 KDs. KO'd by Wilder and TKO'd by Chisora (ref stoppage)
Thompson KO6 - 3 KDs. Previously stopped twice by Wlad and dropped by Price.
Jennings TKO7 - 1KD followed by ref stoppage.
Vidondo KO3 - 2KD's. Previously stopped by Costa Junior.

Who do you guys think carries more power in this HW battle?

    Interesting thread.

It's probably Wilder when he lands perfect shot like vs Szpilka.
But since most Wilder's punches are telegraphed, opponents usually are ready for them.
Ortiz has much better counterpunching ability.

As for power: Wilder's straight right > Ortiz' straight left
Ortiz' left and right uppercut > Wilder's right uppercut
Hooks I'm not so sure about

Wilder I would honestly say has the ability to generate freakish power with his physique. His technique is what lets him down. So I have to go with what Big Ukrainian said: Ortiz has more power in general, but with the perfect punch, Wilder does.

However, the outcome of their fight will not be determined by who has more power, it will be determined by who has a better chin and better technical ability. If Ortiz wasn't as slow as a snail in winter, I'd pick him in a stomp.

Ortiz has more one punch power but Wilder could stun him with several punch combinations. But Wilder is a sacrificial lamb in this fight. No matter how much power you have you can't win against technically skilled fighter if you still box like a basketball player! Wilder's footwork is worst, I have seen, he always is flat on his feet, he has no existent defence and glass chin and because of this, he is KO waiting to happen.

As soon as Deontay Wilder enters the ring, his brain loads his fast twitch muscle network with neurons putting them at high alert, at this point Deontay Wilder muscle cells are fueled with fast burning fuel to be used for 1 hour of combat, within few minutes Deontay Wilder cells are fully fueled, Deontay Wilder is under control of a small interior of interior brain cells associated with violence, the rest of the brain is ordered to maintain minimal function, a parallel adjustment of resources takes place on a neuron-to-cell level, all resources are devoted to the quick twitch muscles network. As soon the bell rings, Deontay Wilder brain gives the signal to fast twitch muscles to release punches at anything moving within range, Deontay Wilder wing span discs retract to allow full extension at any punch. When the victim enters the range of Deontay Wilder, the fast twitch muscles explode creating the initial hyper-velocity of the punch, the punch gains more momentum with distance following the basic rules of projectile motion (reaches maximum velocity on impact) vs the muscular punch of that loses velocity with range. At the moment of contact a second shock wave is triggered using Deontay lower body quick twitch muscular complex to maximize the punch force.

In the immediate aftermath of the punch, the body of the victim is in complete shock due to being exposed to an unprecedented form of trauma, most human bodies are designed to go on flight mode & in boxing, despite mental conditioning, the subconscious mind knows that getting knocked out is the only way to avoid further damage, the life loving cells within the brain of the victim take over command & force the body to collapse, all blood flow is directed to the brain & vital organ to ensure the survival of the victim.

Deontay Wilder still oozing in War-Mode makes unacceptable dancing rituals from the Paleolithic age, contact with weaker non-combatant everyday humans, reverses the brain cells militarization, within a few minutes Deontay Wilder is back to normal, culturally conditioned segments of his brain are in full command & prevent him from harming weak non-combative humans.

This fight will play out sorta like a heavyweight version of Smith/Barrera...with Wilder being Joe Smith & Ortiz being Sullivan Barrera except with way MORE power.

Wilder, like Smith will be the guy with the bigger puncher but won't be able to land effectively to his opponent's superior boxing skills.

I don't think there is an example from the past, that will be a fair comparison...This fight is just in a league of its own, had Ortiz got to Martin first, he would have been the guy with the belt unifying vs Wilder.

Luis Ortiz also has a very long wingspan that he skillfully uses, he was the biggest threat to all the titleholders at Heavyweight for the past 5 years. His utilization of reach & counter punching capabilities, made him more dangerous than the much shorter range Povetkin, hence all title holders ducked him.

Luis Ortiz King-Konged his way thru top boxers, but he never tasted the power that Deontay Wilder has.

Wilders overhand right is stronger than Ortiz uppercuts. Ortiz is more heavy handed with both hands and can knock you around easier but going on who has the bigger punch its wilder... thats the answer!

Hmm, I need to see Wilder KO some legit contenders before I believe he has true power. He didn't drop Duhaupus or Stiverne. Molina, Arreola, Szpilka are all chinny.

I'll side with Ortiz for now. Very intrigued by this match up.

Maybe, but I'm sure Smith packs a better chin than Wilder.
