54-27-1. Pattern seems to be holding for a while now, Lemieux favored by about twice over as many people.

Like, the gap in attractiveness between Miguel Cotto and Melissa Guzmán was already pretty stark; up there with the biggest celeb-couple disparities ever, behind maybe Angelina Jolie and Billy-Bob Thornton but not many others. Cotto post-Lemieux with his newly rearranged Picasso (at best, more likely Jackson Pollock) mug will just look ridiculous with her on his arm. She will have to stave off countless hordes of white knights mistakenly believing they are saving a beautiful damsel from being accosted or kidnapped by some deformed hobo.

Lemieux is better than Smith Jr., and Cotto isn't as good (or given to longevity & forestalling of diminished returns) as Hopkins.

What elite fighters had Grover Wiley, Joe Smith Jr. or Omar Eduardo Gonzalez beaten? And for the record, losing to every elite fighter you share the ring with and having a few asterisks over your best wins due to the opponents being gimps or the opponent debatably drawing or winning and getting robbed doesn't count for as much as sharing the ring with elite fighters and beating them in dominant fashion.

Canelo-Cotto wasn't close to close, it was at best 116-112 or even 117-111.

After Lemieux gets through with Cotto, he'll have to hide away in that mutant convalescent home from Basket Case 3.

Better not hide too long or handsome conquering alpha male Dave will swoop in on the lonely MILF Cotto née Guzmán and "beat up" another member of the family with a barrage of "body shots"!

Actually on a serious note I could see Cotto being into the cuckoldry scene.

Well, versus Maestrito this summer I'm pretty sure Roach and Cotto put in a 5 week camp, and they'll want to at least match that for Lemieux. He did seven weeks for Canelo, which is probably closer to what he will put in here, because why not? It will be his last camp, no reason not to give it his all. That means starting anywhere from the middle to the penultimate week of October, so at the most I'd say in another 2-3 weeks we should know exactly who Cotto is facing.

What's funny is that in February of this year we originally were supposed to have Miguel Cotto vs. James Kirkland headlining a PPV and either nobody remembers that or everybody has forgotten that Cotto was massively favored in that one. Now suddenly there is all this concern about him facing such a large and powerful opponent. Granted there's more to it than just size and power, and h2h yes Kirkland would probably get KTFO by Lemieux, but still, whence did all this concern materialize when just seven months ago Cotto was given the benefit of the doubt of being able to adequately take care of himself with someone that has the same dimensions, a bigger frame, and has fought at the same career-high weight as Lemieux (163.5lbs) and, if we're being honest, might himself actually punch just as hard if not harder?

I'm shocked that people are leaning toward DL for the win. I love watching his fights but he is only a B+ fighter, but it's a very winable fight, I just figured cotto would be a decent favourite

Yeah the more I think about it, as of the beginning of 2017 people were actually bashing Cotto for having a mismatched opponent like Kirkland as his PPV dance partner. Now all of a sudden everyone is worried Cotto might literally die in the ring. Like, yes, Lemieux is probably more dangerous/effective than Kirkland (although I'd say under Ann Wolfe, the latter has the potential to be the superior boxer-puncher in terms of skill than Lemieux at his absolute best under Marc Ramsey or Russ Anber), but really, by that much?

Kirkland and Lemieux are pretty damn similar all the way down the line:
    Identical height.
    Identical reach.
    Identical highest career weights. (163.5lb)
Identical pros & cons across their careers (big strong punchers who could probably wipe out everyone in their path if not for their front-running tendencies, occasional lack of discipline and problems listening to coaches, and lapses in defense in favor of pure slugging)

Lemieux and Kirkland both stopped their one common opponent, Glen Tapia, in the mid-rounds. One has a one-sided but forgivable loss to Golovkin, and the other a one-sided but forgivable loss to Golovkin's near-equal Canelo. One has some more embarrassing defeats to Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachin Alcine; the other has a more embarrassing defeat than either of those in the Ishida blitz. One has the likes of Curtis Stevens, Fernando Guerrero, Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam and Gabe Rosado in their W column; the other has Alfredo Angulo, Carlos Molina, Joel Julio, and Bryan Vera.

Not a whole lot separating them.
