All boxers use some stuff. The difference is that the fighters that bring more money to the table are allowed to use them. You mentioned "masking agents"... IV can be used to mask PEDs as well. Mayweather used that and got a retroactive TUE like nothing happened... Francisco Vargas used clenbuterol and WBC said he just ate tainted meat, nothing to see here. But if a foreign fighter who is not a draw like Ortiz uses similar stuff he gets suspended, Mauricio Sulaiman won't believe his excuses.

Look at the second video. Guy is being coached. He starts to mention that someone else was telling him something and they cut off the interview to start over.

Notice also that the interviewer never asks, "Wait, doctor, how do you know it's not being used for masking? Oh, and were there not other medications he could have been prescribed?"

If he had a life threatening condition, he should not be licensed to box. He could die in the ring. He's lucky that these doctors saved his life and now he can retire and go forward, despite having this crippling condition and hope to have some meager quality of life in his declining years, since he's now on borrowed time.

I bet if he's nice, Wilder will send some flowers to his bedside at the hospital.

Ortiz and anyone else who is undergoing testing has been given by VADA a list of banned substances which they are supposed to provide to their physicians so they can get medication that is not banned.

    He didn't do this.

They are also supposed to disclose on their VADA forms any medical conditions and any medication they are on.

    He did not do this.

Ortiz is a cheat, and it's a shame that this poor, befuddled "doctor" who looks about 20 years past retirement age was trotted out to make a fool of himself in this manner.

But I'm sure he was well compensated by whoever he was referencing off camera that was giving him instructions on what to say.

Rules are rules. They are there to protect fighters in this already very dangerous sport and tom protect the little integrity this sport has.

Look, something obviously does not add up. If Ortiz had a legitimate reason for the medication then he has a right to a TUE. Yet he did not apply for one which was his right to. Now if he had been doping, he's already familiar with the VADA program which had already busted him before, so he knows very well how tough their program is. Why would he risk it on a bum like Windmills?

None of this makes any sense. If he was doping, he should have been cycled off and not in a position to need to be masking it. It doesn't make any sense to put yourself in this position. I wonder who gains from this... why enter into this equation leaving a trail to get busted so easily? It makes no damn sense...

People do things that don't make sense all the time.

Seems obvious he knows he cannot compete at the top level without PED help. That's WHY he did it.

He was desperate. So he made a decision, got a script so he'd have an excuse if he got caught and pulled out his "I have a note from my doctor" card when he got popped.

He's not denying it. He's admitting it. He didn't disclose it because he hoped (and probably thought from some shady Miami 'PED peddler advisor') that it would never show up and he'd get away with it.

This is a guy who has been popped before. He's a two time loser, and that's just the times he got caught. Cheaters don't make rational decisions all the time.

You don't think much do you? If he had a legitimate reason then it is his right to apply for a TUE. It's like there is no reason to be caught because he had a legit reason to be on those meds. And yet, he does not apply for a TUE and instead opts to get caught.

This doesn't make any damn sense unless you wanted to get caught.

So you're saying AJ is a PED user?

    Glad you admitted it.

Wilder is subject to the same testing as Ortiz and Povetkin. He hasn't tested positive. He shouldn't have to fight cheaters.

You are anti Wilder. You want him to fight a multi time drug cheat so he'll lose and you (and Ortiz) realize that Wilder would probably win against the Cuban if Ortiz didn't cheat. So you want him to fight the cheater anyway. I get that.

I am anti PED, anti cheating.

I'll take my position as the high ground any day.

The ironic thing is that if ortiz is legit ( not saying he is), he's going to need those blood pressure pills even more after this drama.

I doubt they would have awarded him a TUE. They would have given him a list of approved blood pressure medication that wasn't on the banned list for being masking agents. Probably also would have sent him to the Mayo Clinic or a respected medical facility to PROVE he actually has a serious "life threatening" condition.

He knows that. He doesn't have a blood pressure condition. It's an excuse, one he had at the ready because he knew there was a possibility he might get caught. He's trying to save face. Last time it was "horse meat has steroids and Luis eats like six horses a week" lol.

By your logic, it never makes sense when anyone in any sport gets caught cheating on PEDs because they know there's a chance they'll get caught. Why do you think they test in the first place? Because people cheat.

It's risk vs. reward. He knows he cannot compete at the top level without PEDs. He knows if he gets away with it and wins the title, he becomes a very rich man. He weighed the reward and took the risk.

    It's not very complicated.
