He is rated as where he is. A lower top 10 heavy of all time.
Rank very high on head to head but have a shorter reign compare to other greats.

On his best night Douglas had an A level skillset.
On the night he beat Tyson, Douglas was at the top of his game both physically and mentally, so I would say Tyson got beaten by better than a B level fighter that night.

The fact that Buster Douglas had lost his mother the couple of weeks leading to his fight with Tyson, put him in a mental mindset to serve him motivationally to not let himself get bullied by Mike Tyson.
In other words, dealing with a bully was a piece of cake next to having to deal with the loss of one's mother.

Going into the fight the feeling on Douglas was that he had the skillset, but a weak mindset to be able trouble Mike Tyson.

Douglas with his excellent skillset, put it all together and took it out on Mike Tyson that night.

I am convinced that had Douglas not lost his mother in the weeks leading up to the Tyson fight, he'd have folded like a cheap suit in the presence and awe of Mike Tyson.

seeing a fat 19 year old kid and saying he's going to be the world champion next year is not Tyson's story LOL

Tyson was trained full time since he was 12 by a master trainer & had won the junior Olympics at 15. Stupid analogy

so you are denying that tyson didnt look like a fat kid in school? Despite just saying he started training at 12, when he was a school kid.

Fail. You said in your original comment that imagine seeing a fat kid at a school and someone pointing out that he would be heavyweight champion next year.

    1. Tyson was training full time at 12 year old.
    2. Was an absolute tank at 15 when he won the junior Olympics, 5years prior to winning the title. Not some fat kid who was gonna win it in a years time.

Take the L and move on

these points do not negate seeing a fat kid at school unifying the hw title next year. fat kid with a junior titlecan still be in training since 12, he still looks like a fat kid that you dont know

you appear not willing to acknowledge that. why?

What on earth are you talking about?

Tyson might have been chubby as a kid but then moved into the house of a delirious, pschopathic boxing genius and was groomed, literally, for 8 years, day in & day out to be the youngest heavyweight champ of all time.

A far cry from a random fat 19 year old walking in a school ground (what's he doing there anyway at 19 LOL) who would became champion in a years time.

Take the L like a man. You were guilty of some steve Bunce sh1t.

Random dude on the street: insanely, massively, incomparably overrated.

Actual real boxing fan: usually has it about right but even then you'll find more that overrate than underrate.

That said, it's all opinion. I think if you rank him a top 5 HW or a top 25 P4P fighter then you are totally insanely off base. In my opinion, his ranking range should be somewhere 8-13 at HW, all time.

    Both.

Overrated for those that claim even in his prime he beats all other heavyweights. Underrated for those who crap on his resume, he'd clean out the division today and so would some of the victims on his resume.
