Tony Thompson was on the exact same thing for the exact same reason high blood pressure. Coincidence that this blood pressure medication is also perfect for flushing other drugs out of your system?
Thompson continues to maintain his innocence. When contacted yesterday he said: “I did fail a drugs test but everybody knows what I failed it for – high blood pressure medicine. “How could it be wrongdoing? I’m taking it for what the doctor prescribed it for. I have high blood pressure, I have for the last 15 years.” Its a very convenient ploy which sounds plausible to the average joe, "its just blood pressure meds" What the average joe doesn't know is that the same drug prescribed to lower blood pressure also is a diuretic that can flush other peds out of your system. Why do people think its on the banned substance list if its just blood pressure meds? because it isn't just used for blood pressure that's why, if you can get a doc to prescribe it for blood pressure its a very convenient excuse to use if you get caught using it for other reasons.
Yer Wilder will use it as an excuse like that Povtekin debacle, both fights should have happened. Vada is a joke and has no credibility.
High Blood Pressure meds are usually Beta Blockers. Im not sure if thats what Ortiz is taking but I kind of doubt he would be using it to get an edge because Beta Blockers does not enhance performance for strenuous activity. It is banned though as it has calming affects that benefits sports like archery.
Thompson tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide after rematch https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...ed-drug-test-boxing-ruined-david-price-career
They have already named the substances he pissed hot for, they are not beta blockers hydrochlorothiazid is a diuretic. This content is protected hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic, They flush water out of your system by making you pee all day long like crazy, so if you drink tonnes of water and take diuretics you will flush out any traces of other PEDS from your pee. They are also used for high blood pressure because the less total fluid you have in your blood vessels the lower your blood pressure will be. So while hydrochlorothiazide is not a PED it is used to mask PED's, So what his doctor is saying is correct but he is being clever and misleading. hydrochlorothiazide has zero performance enhancing benefits, but it can be used to flush out various other performance enhancing drugs very effectively. This is why its on the banned substance list. hydrochlorothiazide can also be out of your system within 2-3 day's, much quicker than a lot of other peds it could be used to mask. Taking hydrochlorothiazide to flush out and mask other drugs and using blood pressure meds that include that substance is a clever way to give a reason why the drug was found in your system if you actually get caught. My first step would be to see Ortiz medical records and see if he really dose have high blood pressure. For me the fact he did not disclose the medication, the fact hes been caught before and the fact that a professional boxer has high blood pressure in the first place is highly suspicious.
Yeah I did doubt it would be those. Other than for blood pressure, the rest is conjecture to think he would be using it as a masking agent. It would be interesting if actual PEDs were found on him. That would be twice I believe for Mr Ortiz.
This is true and this is the precise reason these drugs are on the banned substance list, they are not performance enhancing on their own, but they have the ability to flush out traces of other drugs. Ortiz could very well have high blood pressure and hasn't used them to flush out other peds, But its highly suspicious based on the fact he didn't declare this medication, hes been busted before, and the fact a pro boxer has high blood pressure in the first place. I would love to see his medical records to see if he has had his blood pressure tested in the past and it has indeed been high.
Wilder won't take this fight didn't we learn anything from the Povetkin farce. This guy cuts and runs doesn't matter if the opponent is caught with flintstone vitamins. It's all part of the plan.
I certainly hope it happens He may actually be on medication for high blood pressure. they are probably looking into this and see if Ortiz has a legit prescription for high blood pressure Make it happen!!!! Bring on Ortiz. He will knock Wilder OUT! ( which will be sooooo good to see !)
What about the blood itself? His blood pressure prescriptions do not mask that so? No peds have been found in ortiz blood isnt that more important?
