Paulie Malignaggi has hand problems that prevent him from being a puncher. I'm pretty sure he has a couple screws in his right hand. On top of that, his style is a very points oriented style. He doesn't go for knockouts, he's always working behind the jab. In the Broner fight he threw almost 500 of them! If Paulie had a pressure oriented style he would surely have more tkos on his record. However that doesn't play to his strengths very well so he doesn't.
I think it was Angelo Dundee who said it " Its all mental, some guys really want to hurt you and punch through you, then you get fellas that are lighter punchers who haven't got the same mental make up from birth".. Basically what I took from it was, in general, you have to be a nasty ******* to have serious ko power. Not sure I agree..Again, not 100% it was Dundee who said it, but given time i'll find it..
I cant believe how far Malignaggi got with his power or lack of it. Very very good in some departments, but so little power that I'm surprised he reached world level. Like breath takingly weak !
I think there is some truth to that. I think it's more about having the intention to hit hard, than it is being a bad mofo or whatever. But I do think that one can sort of feed into the other.
Feeding into the other is how it is imo as you say, its not the foundation ! I think core strength is where it starts then mentality coupled with technique Reznick !
Which fighters have screws in their hands? Lol lack of punching power doesn't make a fighter weak. Real fighters don't worry too much about punching power. That's a internet phenomenon.
You just said weak. You didn't specify in terms of punching power. You only said "Paulie is just weak". If you mean't he can't hit hard then you should have specified. Obviously they are two different things. Nobody suggested otherwise.
You also referred to other aspects of his game though such as chin and heart. You also added no power at the end. It was quite confusing. If you mean't weak as in no power then it was just a simple misunderstanding from the use of vague language. No need to get excited.
I think if you are obsessed with emulating Mayweather from the amateurs, you will not develop hard punching.
